My memories of pjo are vague at best, but is that sorta like what happened with Nico? Like, getting some sort of rude introduction to the myth world and then going off on your own, leading to a lot of misunderstandings and misinformation and the higher susceptibility to manipulation.

sort of, but nico never went to the other side. 

but yeah it is very similar (aka... cinematic parallels time BABY) tldr as a reminder nico and bianca got out of the lotus hotel and bianca kind of immediately joins the hunters and then goes on a quest and dies, leaving nico behind. this causes a lot of problems with nico where he struggles with being abandoned and grief, as well as holding grudges (children of hades often have this flaw) against percy for not protecting his sister. this is in titan’s curse

he runs off for a while but we see his return in battle of the labyrinth, when bianca sends percy dreams to steer him to help nico, and nico & percy kind of make up a little bit and eventually go back to being, like, tentative friends. nico helps them a bit on their quest. it’s presumed nico spent the time in between the two books searching for ways to bring his sister back (amongst other things) and in the underworld, but he didn’t really have contact with kronos/luke/etc. and of course in tlo he joins percy and beats the fuck out of some monsters

so the situation is similar but also different; both nico and percy lose someone close to them at a young age, right at the introduction to the mythological world, but nico at the very least spent some time at camp and had some guidance, even in the underworld, while percy just kinda goes wild for a bit. i don’t think nico is really ever tempted to join kronos, because he has no reason to and no interaction, while percy will. 

though nico is partially manipulated by midas! so yeah those TASTY tasty parallels
