I kid you not the topic of discussion in the math-phys departmental lunch today devolved into “which Schrodinger operator in [x] dimension is your favorite?”, we finished 3 and were debating 1 by the time lunch ended
#we are all caricatures of ourselves#my life#the mathematicians fandom#the physicists fandom#before you ask I didn't have a strong opinion I was mostly staring at these professors who were all having this incredibly hearty debate#citing eigenvalue distributions and connections to statistical mechanics#and wondering how in the world did my life go this wrong and also this right
