If someone (or yourself) were to make a modern heathers (that was good lmao) what would you like to see change or included in it? Like what would your ideal version be?
Honestly after months of trying to actually script a modern adaptation of Heathers, I’ve come to the conclusion that it can’t be done. Fun aus where its just These Characters In a Modern Setting are one thing, but the movie itself, it’s entirely based around the 80s. The characters, the plot, they’re all archetypes and commentary based on pop culture and society in the 80s. Social points in it are no longer relevant, Teen Movies aren’t the focus of our pop culture anymore, and the entire plot has a completely different connotation in our post 9/11 and school shootings world.
A modern Heathers, a good, accurate, modern Heathers, would have completely different characterizations and plot lines. So at that point it’s not really.. Heathers anymore??
