“You know, I think this is the first year Hayden has gotten both Christmas and the marketplace.”
“It is, he knows that too, I am not sure Vy knows though?”
Chris looked at his husband, knowing he probably didn’t know that, it wasn’t something his son would be proud of after all. It was very good to see him as free as he was now though, even if they knew it might always change in just minutes, it was still good to see him sit there and smile watching his boyfriend skate.
“So, will you win me something?”
“Hmh, well what would my dragon want?”
Hayle looked around, having seen both his children win prizes, thinking it might be fun to have one too.
“How about we try a teddy? I mean then we all have one each.”
“Well, I can always try, I never actually done this before though.”
Taking his husband's hand Chris walks him over to the booth, paying to get three balls to try and knock them over with.
“Do I get a kiss for good luck?”
Hayle chuckled, pulling his husband close and then kissing him, followed by a wink.
“Well if you don’t manage, I guess I will ask River and Vy to win me one?”
“Ey!”
“What, they both won, so I am sure if I ask nicely they will win one for me too!”
“Pffft.”
Chris just shook his head and focused, knowing he had managed this several times before, but it had never really been to win something. The first ball not hitting, which lead to a chuckle from his husband.
“Did I make you nervous?”
“Yes, now give me a good luck kiss instead!”
Hayle smirked, pulling his husband close kissing him, then winking at him.
“If you fail now, I can’t be a luck dragon.”
“True... “
He shakes his head, and aims once again, the cans falling with a clank on the ground.
“Clearly a luck dragon then.”
Chris chuckles as he points at a teddy bear with a red heart, before turning to Hayle, handing it too him.
“There, is my dragon happy now then?”
“Yes, very happy”
“Happy enough for me to not have to skate later?”
“Nope!”
“Awww!”
They had skated together many times, and Rylan was about to know where he had his terrible balance from if he noticed them. It had never been something Chris was very good at, unlike Hayle who seemed to do it so naturally.
“I can always make you feel all better later?”
“I’ll hold you to that, Mr luck-dragon.”
Hayle chuckles, pulling his husband along, finding the candy stand, pointing at the stuff he wants, noticing the popcorn with caramel that he adores.
“Aha.. hmh, I know someone else who loves this too.”
“Wait... it’s not all for me?”
“All three buckets, no silly, you get one.”
The pouty face of his husband makes him laugh, but it is quickly replaced by a smile as he gets the bucket filled with the popcorn, munching away happily as they walk to find their kids, noticing Ryland and River by the duck pond.
“Oh wow.. that one is horrible to try.”
“If he wins that as well, I will be impressed.”
Chris walked over to Rylan, poking his shoulder, handing him a bucket off popcorn, before walking towards Hayden and Vy with the last one. Hayle staying behind to see if River could actually manage to win that game.
He noticed his son about to stand up, wondering where he was going as Vy seemed to still be skating.
“Yeah?”
“I bring popcorn, with Caramel.”
“They still make these? I thought we didn’t find them last time.”
“Seems they have started again, I guess we weren't the only ones asking.”
“Thanks, dad.”
As Hayden took the popcorn with him to the piano, he walked back towards his husband and the fishpond he couldn’t help but smile a little extra. River was clearly good for Rylan, he was calmer, less worried and much more himself when he was around, even if he wondered just how they had started the whole Disney princess banter they seemed to have. As he noticed Rylan walking over after a speech that he had to admit was pretty impressive. Holding out the popcorn for him to take, then putting his arm around his husband.
“Yup, definitely a luck dragon.”
