would like to complain about buffy season seven if that is okay.....it just....the way it just like made me hate all of the characters but buffy, dawn, faith, and tara. Like buffy is my favorite show and she's in my top three favorite characters of all time and I want to rewatch so bad but I just can't watch it without remembering how much trauma she suffers and like none of the other scoobies really realize it and then have the gall to be mad at her for being traumatized. like please I know you guys are traumatized too but she has died twice, had to drop out of college, has to be slayer and guardian of her sister and still loves them enough to put aside her own issues to help them with theirs. like season 6 is probably in my top three favorite seasons (only because of buffy's struggles with depression cause I was 14 and depressed when I watched it not cause of sp*ffy) but then like....season 7 focuses so much on all of the others grief when like buffy experienced the same grief, is dealing with the same overlooking war, and is navigating through her own ptsd about everything. it just fell short to me. I think it could have been really well done, but the characters became one dimensional other then when they had their episode focused on their trauma.
I enjoy the large story arc in season seven, but it falls short in terms of characterization and individual storylines are not handled with enough attention and care. So, I really feel you. I watched season seven first though so I will forever have a deep, emotional attachment to it. But years later, I find myself realizing that it glosses over some very important topics that needed to be addressed. However, due to time constraints, I understand why they couldn't fully explore everything, but they could have cut out some of the screen time given to the potentials. Just used their time a little more efficiently. I think they would've benefited from adding a few more editors and better writers (they did add a few new writers but lost some really great ones). Or better yet, if only SMG would've wanted to do a season eight, they could have pushed The First storyline back one season and had season seven be a season about healing, rebuilding and self-discovery.
