Panic!!! Filming starts tomorrow
Whose darn fool idea was it to make a film short?
It all started about two weeks ago as something far less intense; a test shoot with something worthwhile to point the camera at and the possibility of walking away with a simple film short. Somewhere along the line it mutated into a committed mini epic. I feel a massive responsibility to the cast/crew for putting themselves out - especially given the forecast.
The weather forecast for tomorrow is really dire; cold and wet, not rising above freezing and we'll be out in it all day. Will the crew grin and bear it?
I'm totally relying on my lead man Ben turning up on the 09.07 into Carnforth station. We've never met and I've got no backup option.
The snow's all melted since the location recce... will the rail yard still work?
Will the boots fit? There's no alternative - they have to!
The devil in me says that if my lead actor doesn't turn up in the morning I can cancel the whole thing, buy the crew a coffee, lament that it's a non-starter and not shoulder the blame of failure! It's the thought of being responsible for letting these folks down that bothers me most.
On the positive side the camera kit arrived today and I've got to grips with it. The prop guns were delivered at the last minute. Costumes are all complete. Storyboard's nearly there. Another late night before an early start tomorrow and I'll rely on Mark Twain's advice...
