So I was reading The Raid again, and I was wondering if there’s a specific reason why Javi won’t have his way with reader? Is it just because he enjoys having her wait or does he actually want her to be clean before they do it?

He has a dark savior complex and gets off on control. He wants her to be clean, but not out of the goodness of his heart / concern for her as an individual. It's more about himself. I loved it when Peña told Reader that when you are at the bottom your only way is up. His words seemed genuine (and they moved me tbh, sometimes you just need that reminder). I didn't expect that in their dynamic, but it made their relationship more intriguing. Your writing is so good, toxic 💜

When it comes to dark Javi - He may truly believe he has something better to offer, but we also wouldn't put it past him to use your low point for selfish purposes. Drawing attention to the state of your life makes you more vulnerable and also helps rationalize whatever he has in mind.

This dialogue is paired with your first glimpse of his cross when it falls out of his shirt while he's scrubbing you down. This might suggest how he wants to see himself.

Hi! 🧡 Have you watched The Killing (the American version)? There's a scene in season 1 that makes me think of Peña or Murphy. In this scene, inspector Holder flirts with 2 girls that are about 16 or 17 so they tell him more about the murder he's investigating (the victim was one of their classmates). He shares a cigar with them, telling them that he's off-duty and that he's not going to lock them up. You can see he has no interest in them, but the two girls think he is so hot and cannot stop giggling. The actor is Joel Kinnaman. He and Boyd look alike.
