The Ringer’s Bill Simmons and Chris Ryan are joined by Bill Hader to flip a coin and await their fate as they rewatch the 2008 Acad
The Rewatchables podcast with Bill is finally here!!!
The Rewatchables Clues So Far:
1. Bill is NOT in the film they're discussing
2. The film won an Oscar.
*Bill was in Superbad so it's not that
*Reservoir Dogs did not win an Oscar
*So it's either 'There Will Be Blood' or 'No Country For Old Men.'
It’s fascinating to me the things men overlook when thinking/talking about culture and entertainment.
Like, the dudes that taped the Mad Max: Fury Road episode of The Rewatchables had tons of praise for Charlize Theron and agreed that the story was really about her character. But they seemed surprised that her character would be the lead over Tom Hardy’s Max in a Mad Max movie. But like, her character is named Furiosa. The film’s title is Mad Max: Fury Road. Furiosa. Fury Road. Fury. It’s right there in the title.
Also, in all the talk about the look of the film, and the crazy long shooting schedule, how much footage was filmed, and George Miller’s vision, I don’t recall them mentioning even once the film’s editor: Margaret Sixel. She won an Academy Award for editing the film.
I just don’t get it.
Chris Ryan doing Zane Lowe fucking killed me

With a caper movie... it has to work on two levels. You have to watch it the first time and just be caught up in what is going to happen. And the second time you watch it, you're looking for the tells, you're looking for... the discomfort and stress is different because you're watching people manipulate and lie to each other and you know, on the second viewing... who is doing what to whom, and kind of a little bit why.
