I haven't yet finished the game but I AM getting deeply worried the fandom is going to be 500000000 think pieces on why the traumatised 16 year old is the Real Villain vs. the 'uwu my little baby boy' for the 100+ morally dubious hot liar guy
#to be clear#Maelle is complex and I love that for her#she makes shitty decisions sometimes like not letting verso say goodbye to Alicia#but she ultimately tries#she tries so hard#and she's 16 and blames herself for the death of her real brother AND Gustave who was a brother figure#she tells the truth to her friends when she knows it#and to be clear#while verso isn't my favourite character#he's WONDERFULLY written and can be endearing#like he's SO wonderfully written I'm so happy with his execution and how they went about making him#but he DID trick the entire expedition - multiple expeditions he's travelled with actually - into essentially killing themselves and working#against their goal#and while manipulating/tricking them into this#he was willing to start a sexual/romantic relationship with them#????????#its good writing and makes sense to me#but it's why I find him. hmmm. just. I'm glad I can play a game where I dislike a character and also a game where I'm endeared by#the same character#characters SHOULD inspire good and bad reactions in us#sorry I can't help it I'm constantly coming after Veilguard unprovoked#anyway
