Shadow Witch appreciation post because I love her so much (and definitely not because she's a baddie hush-) !!! But also her lore fascinates me so much because she's so different from the witches in the other games. Actually, witch's castle in general is pretty great for witch lore!! I should really play the game myself instead of watching hours of gameplay videos.

But Shadow Witch in particular gives me HUGE Eggman vibes. And let me explain why (because we need more content of her too)

So like this tells us a lot of things. In CRWC magic isn't something that's widely practiced anymore, and it seems the practice of it has almost vanished into obscurity. This also makes me think that a lot of the humans either don't know the existence of living cookies, haven't stumbled upon them, or think of them as some kind of fairytale. They're probably still in the medieval era too. I think in CRWC the relationship between cookies and humans is kind of like, disney fairies. Since there isn't an active witch threat anymore, both worlds coexist.

Then comes the shadow witch. She's a witch in an era where witchcraft is looked down upon and chased away from her home. She's also the granddaughter of the witch of light. She probably has a high opinion of her, and cares about her based off of these scenes. She also hates the villagers who harassed them in the past, which is probably part of the reason why she ended up the way she did now if you consider the witch of light and her followers turned into the first cookies years ago and that meant the shadow witch was left alone for a considerable amount of time, probably as a teen or a child, and started studying witchcraft.

The game calls her a "seeker of truth". The castle probably belonged to the witch of light, and the shadow witch infiltrated it to know how her grandmother managed to create living breathing cookies. Only when did the shadow witch enter the witch's castle did it get as active as it did. Infact, she's probably one of the only witches to not bake cookies to eat. She probably baked Gingerbrave's batch as an experiment instead, to create living cookies. And GB was the only successful attempt, if you look at the other burnt cookies. And she wants to gather the first batch, and GB too, to um basically study them like lab rats? I'm telling you she's got more evil scientist than witch in her and the eggman-gerald type of dynamic is sooo present here. I don't think she has a "world ending" motive either, she's probably doing it for the thrill of knowledge and possibly answers to her morbid curiosity

Also, the recipe book or "tome" she's referring to is probably the grimoire

ANYWAYS most of this is largely speculation BUTT i love her !! I think she's such a breath of fresh air when it comes to how witches are portrayed, it adds depth to their characters too. Please devsis give her more content too (the curse of narrative irrelevancy is something both her and GB have huh 😭? Plss there's so much potential here)

She doesn't have a clear face as her big hat casts a big shadow. She's short and uses those Halloween witch costumes. She's evil and wants to put children in her refrigerator to make them statues and she cannot sing if her live depended on it.

This witch has haunted my nightmares for years. Not anymore but for like 7 years, she did. The most recurrent dream with her starts when my parents hire her as a nanny for me and my younger brothers. As soon as they leave she tries to freeze the my youngest brother, so I grab both of them and we run. On the run, we encounter Phineas and Ferb on their hoverboard and we fly away. Unfortunately for us, she uses her hat like a hoverboard to fly, revealing she has a face made of shadows, and goes after us. Phineas and Ferb lead us to Timmy Turner's World Stage (the one he wished for that one time) where we all start singing. The only way to get to us is to sing better and louder than us, but she can't. Our singing materializes actual green lasers that kill her. It sounds silly but it always scared me. The other time I dreamed of her she also had straw on her dress and she hated me personally for killing her with my friends before, so as revenge she was turning my whole family into straw in my arms (we were at the White House version of my country, though that's irrelevant). She then used a windblower to blow away the pieces of my brothers until they could no longer be seen. She refused to turn me into straw, though. She wanted me to live knowing it was my fault my family was dead.
