THE SHATTERER from GUILD WARS 2
From the journal of Sonnya Danae: My worst nightmare happened. Just when I thought I’d mentally recovered enough, and I wasn’t going to have to deal with it anymore, my worst nightmare became a real thing. After the ... incident... with Shatterer 137, I’d been assigned detached duty with the Priory in their advancement into Elona. Mostly it was patrolling the Brand down there, and escorting civvies back and forth between historical sites. I’ll just come out and say it; beating the tar out of Branded and having little kids who’d never seen Asura before thank me for protecting them and their parents was theraputic. The food was interesting, and the change in scenery from Tyria was pretty welcome. (pretty sure I have some pics of me in a bathing suit somewhere, from when I got some downtime. I’m debating whether I should include them in another entry.) Then came the call; Warmaster Almorra Soulkeeper was pulling every available Vigil soldier in Elona for a priority mission. Something had happened up north, but it was heading south both literally and figuratively. By that time, I’d been transitioned a few times through various missions until I ended up providing security to the Jahai summit, at the request of the Order of Shadows. (those sneaky bastards. Before everything went plums up, I noted that there was three times more of them than they’d indicated on their summit forms. The ‘extra’ members were all in heavy, heavy cloaking that fooled everyone...everyone that didn’t have built-in thermal vision, that is. Cogs, I love my upgrades...) I was standing guard while the Commanders tried to bring the summit to order (there’s a lot of them, by the way. The Commanders. They’re all impressive, and kinda scary to be around; so many legends about them.) when everything went purple... That purple haze we all know from the Brand just...materialized everywhere. It didn’t flow in through windows and doors, or descend like a glider. It just manifested. Boom. Instant Brand-zone. It was right after that, that I nearly collapsed in fear. Outside one of the chamber doors, IT appeared. Oh Cogs... it was right THERE. I heard on one of the Commander’s comms that someone was saying Almorra had chased a Risen Shatterer from up north down here to Jahai, but that it sank almost our entire remaining fleet in its escape. (mental note: Contact Tenna, and see if she’ll let me see the ship she works from now. I caught a glimpse of it in LA a little while back, and it...didn’t look right. Like I wasn’t seeing what it really was. Had a hell of a visual distortion around it.) As we evacuated, the bastard thing stuck its head and its paws in through the walls, trying to crush us. That’s when I saw it. The right paw wasn’t normal at all. It didn’t look like a Branded at all. You know how they usually look like dark crystal or basalt stone or something? That thing’s right paw was made of granite. Grey, dead-looking granite, laced with pustulant green energy, and I think some rotted-looking vines. It wasn’t normal. It wasn’t the original paw. Yeah. It was him. It was Shatterer 137, back from the dead. I didn’t get a good look at it’s right leg or wing, but I’d assume they were just as ‘replaced’ as the paw. It even looked a little different, with green energy filtering through its body in place of that normal purple stuff. Warmaster Almorra is firmly convinced it came for at least one of the Commanders, for having been present at its death before. During the Incident. Maybe that’s true. I’d certainly feel a lot better about it if that was true. Because I think it also tried to come for me. When it shoved its head through the wall, blasting us with that horrid, dank, moldy stone rot breath... I swear it looked at me. And its eye was moldy stone too... Shatterer 137 hadn’t forgotten who’d helped put it down the first time. Who made it need replacements for most of those parts. I think it came to try to kill me. Again. I hope we put that bastard in the ground forever this time. Almorra is right; we’ll send it back piece by piece to its master. And then I’ll stop having nightmares about it again. End of Entry ------------------------------------------------------------- Author’s note: Guess who finally got to Jahai? This entire story mission was custom made for Sonnya. It really was. When you go to the summit, look near the north west main entrance, between the Iberu party and the Order of Shadows party. There’s a hidden Orders ‘guard’ near the door. Totally in stealth. Also, when you get to the room where the Shat sticks its head in and roars? When it pulls back take a GOOD look through the wall of purple flame; that bastard has a second head coming off his left side! (it’s actually just the Shat that spawned for the previous segment, where it shoves both fists in. It just never despawns so you can see both overlapped and it makes a really freaky chimera.) I wish there were swimsuits. I want Sonnya to have a really pretty one....and I really need some sleep because my mind wanders. LoL
“he's right behind me isn't he“
yeah so the shatterer kept photo-bombing my screen session and scaring the shit out of me every time he flew by so i made a meme out of it...
