I felt a burst of inspiration today. Tried digital art, I felt this one needed to be in color.

Out of all the relationships on the show, I think my favourite is Steven and Pearl
She's undoubtedly the most motherly of the three Crystal Gems, for all intents and purposes she is his mother. She and Rose had an undeniable relationship that fell into the murky territories of love, and even if Rose didn't take it as seriously or didn't feel that love quite the same way and moved on to romantically love Greg, it can't be denied she shared deep feelings with Pearl
With Rose gone, Pearl is like the stepmother figure who devoted herself to her lovers child
And Steven looks up to and wants to make Pearl proud so much, probably the most of the the gems, because perhaps on some level he feels that barely missed chance connection too
Pearl is his mother who almost was, and Steven is her child that could have been
what do we think of this new way of drawing eyes guys. it's simplistic but it adds to it yk
kind of iffy about his corrupted eye because i make a point to not draw it shiny but ehh. looks okay
