Are you proud of what you've given? Are you proud of what you've sacrificed?
Edit: TY FOR THE ENGAGEMENT!! This is for my AU, Here's the comic it's based upon, Gore warning for those who need it. Check my AU out :D
Getting clinically insane about Steven universe again, don’t mind me. Rewatched the last three eps of future again along with some others and oughhhh. I remember it being a popular headcanon at the the time future came out that Steven would have “corruption scars” after it happening and I still really love the idea along with his whole glowing pink deal. Rewatching the og series atm and squeeing every time Steven is on screen, he’s so cute also this is very sketchy so
I don’t think anyone understands how crazy pink Steven makes me and almost all the fanart out there is THIRST TRAPS OF A LITTLE BOY FUUACCKKKK
Diamond Steven is my delectable little treat of an AU that I savour as the finest cuisine. Because it’s so incredibly LIKELY to happen. If the narrative was just a little less kind to Steven, if the show was not so child-friendly and optimistic - one turn in the wrong direction and you end up in this well of delicious misery. Now you can watch the consequences of taking Steven the Gem Jesus and putting him in an environment that wants so badly to mold him into the opposite of what he is. And he can resist, he can fight, he can adapt, he can change. What will he grow into when you take away the sun and the soil? Rip him from his roots?
Come and watch this heart-of-gold child be shattered by the pressure of his heritage and lose the light in his eyes! Can a person remain good and pure and innocent after witnessing the horrors? How much of them will be left on the other side?
And I’m not even talking about The Gems here, or Connie, or even Greg and every other character it would affect because I would have to actually write a whole essay. So here's some concepts that have been tumbling around in my head for awhile
Also if you wanna know more or just yap about these kind of aus feel free to ask!

I just finished Steven Universe Future! What an emotional roller coaster!! It completely tore me apart, but I absolutely loved it!
Is it a bad sign that I really relate to Steven? 😅
One thing I don't often see people talk about in Steven Universe.
In the series most of Stevens powers come from a need to protect those around him. His shield, his bubble, healing spit/tears, all designed, and come from the desire to, protect those around him. With the exception of his floating which comes from a sense of joy and happiness.
In Future his new powers stem from a subconscious need to protect himself, instead of a need to protect others. He's dealing with a lot and his powers are reacting in an explosive way to keep him safe. Super speed to escape a dangerous situation, explosive screams to throw the threat away from him, and panels, thicker and stronger than his shield and bubble, to shield him from the perceived threat.
Which then makes me wonder, since Pink on Homeworld was known for destructive "temper tantrums" how often she must've felt so unsafe, scared and unhappy that her powers reacted the way Stevens do in Future.
When she became Rose Quartz she felt confident, comfortable and more safe as Rose than as Pink. She had a strong desire to protect the Earth and the Crystal Gems, developing her powers into the ones we see most in the show.
