During the Gravel Wars, about a year or so after the second Team Fortress came into the picture, the local government caught wind of what was happening in the Redd/Blu wastelands. They couldn’t legally do anything to stop it, since no one was being killed permanently and it was all happening on private property, so they decided to add a condition; assign a therapist to each of the teams to watch over the group’s mental health. Acknowledging that killing and being killed nearly every day probably wasn’t the healthiest emotional experience, the two brothers agreed.
Redd hired Simona, a bright well-meaning woman from Seattle. Of course, none of the mercs were super into weekly check-in sessions and talking about, God forbid, FEELINGS. But soon, she became part of the crew, helping do chores around the base while the mercs were fighting, and generally being a non-biased ear to rant to, which some of the crew desperately needed.
When Redd and Blu were murdered by Graymann and the Mann vs Machine wars began, the condition from the government was lifted, since killing PEOPLE was no longer part of the contract. And since civilians weren’t allowed on the property, Simona was given a choice; to wave goodbye to the mercs and most likely never see them again, or pick up a gun and start blowing up the metal men. To even her own surprise, Simona picked the latter, despite never firing a gun in her life. Guess she wanted to be in the crew more than she thought.
She was given lessons on how to shoot and she soon became an amazing support role. She was even given a code name, The Shrink. Even though it started at a jab to her therapist skills by Scout, it soon stuck, for better or for worse.
Stats
Simona is 100% support, using different gifts from all the mercs to help her fight. Her main weapon is a scoped rifle with less range than Snipes, but more than enough accuracy to headshot. Secondary weapon is a pack of small mines that explode directly on impact, made by Engie and Demo. She can throw them or drop them as she’s running, making for a nasty surprise if she’s being chased. She doesn’t have a melee weapon, but instead uses fingerless gloves to give some healing to those who need it through some science mumbo jumbo by Medic. Her knowledge of the human mind and background in psychology allows her to predict her opponents movements, which she can then relay to more offensive classes.
Personality!
- Her outfit is an extra shirt from Soldier with the extra fabric tied around her waist. They didn’t have any in her size. The symbol is just the basic TF2 symbol stitched over the rocket launcher symbol.
- Isn’t the kind of therapist that makes talking a priority. She’s kinda just a constant steady presence. Sometimes, a therapy “session” will consist of reading books in the same room or playing a board game (especially with Pyro).
- NEEEEERRRRRDDD
- Prides herself on knowing how to solve a Rubik’s Cube, even though she didn’t figure it out by herself. Once dared Engie to solve one and he did it in 10 minutes without instructions. Still thinks he cheated.
- Loves all things art. Will often trade drawing ideas with Scout.
- Has no idea what Medic means when he rants, but likes hearing him talk. Unless the sight of blood or needles gets involved, then she’s suddenly needed elsewhere.
- Learned basic German, French, and Russian for the multilingual mercs. Thinks it’ll make them more open to sharing if they do so in their mother language.
- Plays duets with Engie with her ukulele. (Especially since she does have a bit of a crush on the Texan).
- Learned how to headshot from Sniper. They both have their habit while they wait for a target. He smokes. She munches on sunflower seeds. They both think the others habit is super annoying.
- Has GAD (Generalized Anxiety Disorder) and takes a daily dose of Xanax for anxiety attacks. When Medic asked if he could “root around in there and see if he can take out the problem” she heartily declined.
- Doesn’t think she could actually have the heart to kill if the Respawners weren’t there.
