1x02 the tagger

- Amy’s eagerness to see jake get reprimanded by holt lmao. she just scurries over with a big ol’ smile on her face. Never mind the times she’s stood up for him since they got together, compare that to her trying to save him from getting suspended in charges in specs.

- holt’s actually reprimanding him for good reasons this episode. the pilot I think was more jake not working the way holt knows and likes, yet still being a good cop but here jake has actually made mistakes (mislabelling evidence)

- jake says “with all due respect” to holt quite a lot I’ve noticed 

- gina’s hair this episode looks really 70s or something

- Amy and rosa are kind of mean here. Those two had some growing to do as well

- Harvey Norgenbloom!! the first of many of Jake's undercover disguises

- I love that at this point in the show jake sees holt coming onto his cases as ‘babysitting/micro-managing’ but now holt’s still with him a lot but it’s because holt trusts him the most to help him with cases (like ransom, ticking clocks etc), and they also just like spending time together

- holt’s got a point, Jake’s goofing off with the sandals would have meant he wouldn’t have caught the tagger without holt being there

- amy/rosa/charles is an underrated dynamic I would like more of them

- “no sorry don't feel like it no” I miss gina so much

- gina has a post-it note on her desk that I'm pretty sure says “I love my job I love my job I love my job I hate my job I hate my job”

- the thing from Jake’s desk that broke during Dillman that Melissa said has been there been since season 1 is really prominent this episode. I can’t say I was looking out for it during the pilot but we now know it’s at least been there since episode 2 rip

- Amy’s low key being Jake-level cocky about finding the drugs I love it

- gina finding Podolski sexy is like rosa finding the vulture sexy

- seeing jake with Trevor is making me feel things. I know Trevor is terrible and jake and Amy’s son won’t be but still can you imagine jake with his teenage son how sweet

- the first ‘Terry loves yoghurt’ 

- “what kind of father cares so little for his son that he lets him get away with everything?” yes jake!! listen to what he’s saying!! it means he cares about you!!! but I think jake was thinking about his relationship with his own dad here and hadn’t pieced together the other meaning behind holt’s words. I don’t even know if holt was aware of the other meaning tbh

-”commissioner please don’t talk to my detective in that tone. If you have a complaint you can take it up with me” protective dad <3

- I think this is the first time jake finds holt, for lack of a better word, cool. and we see it more as the show goes on. He definitely thought that after finding out about the disco strangler but this is the first time jake is witnessing holt being badass and HE’S LOVING IT

-”baby steps captain. baby steps” if that one line doesn’t sum up jake and holt’s relationship in season 1...
