"The Time Element" was Rod Serling's first science-fiction / fantasy script that became the precursor for his "Twilight Zone" series.   The public response was sufficient for CBS to green light the series.

The Twilight Zone | [PILOT]: "The Time Element" (Original "Lost" Pilot Episode, aired on the Westinghouse Desilu Playhouse on November 24, 1958) Many years after the end of World War II, a man named Peter Jenson visits a psychoanalyst and tells of a recurring dream where he tries to warn people about the "sneak attack" on Pearl Harbor, but in his dream the warnings are disregarded. Jenson insists that the dreams are real, and that he is actually travelling back in time, despite the temporal paradoxes associated with time travel.

Waiter: But there are no seats left at the bar sir

Jensen: Look, if the President of the United States came in here and wanted to sit at the bar, you'd have a seat for him, wouldn't you?

Jensen: Well, I guarantee you he won't be here, so I'll just take his seat
