Tiny Fandom Yuletide nominations

Hey everybody! It is Yuletide nomination time of year (if you’re not familiar with Yuletide, it’s a small fandom Christmastime fic exchange - for the last five years RoL has been one of the most-ficced Yuletide fandoms). Nominations are closing this Thursday. 

People can only nominate four characters, and only nominated characters can be requested. So while I’m sure RoL will get nominated, consider this a round-up post for letting other tiny fandom people know who you’re nominating, so we can get the best spread possible. I’m planning on nominating Beverley, Tyburn, Caroline, and Jaget.

Mucking around with RoL character-appearances-by-mention-of-their-name data, as you do, and while I’ll do a proper post on it sometime after Christmas I note that, several years after I first did this:

- nobody in fandom cares about Zach Palmer (as defined by being tagged in fic on AO3), unlike nearly everybody else in the top-ten most-mentioned characters

- everybody except Chorley, that is, because nobody wants to write fic about Chorley either (good life choices) 

- David Mellenby is still winning for highest fic-to-actual-mention ratio 

- Guleed and Beverley have both come back strong in terms of mentions and appearance in fic after spending a couple of books off-screen, and I’m so pleased for both of them

The Tumblrpocalypse is upon us, goddamit, I don’t have the energy to move platforms yet again. 

Anyway, for the moment I plan to keep posting to Tumblr; I don’t think I generally post stuff that’s going to get pinged. But because who the fuck knows how this is actually gonna work, and because I expect fandom to migrate...somewhere...over the next couple of weeks I will be activating my very dormant Dreamwidth account and reposting my RoL and some other meta there. Feel free to come find me. I’m also reasonably active on Twitter and squatting on Pillowfort, if they ever get their act together.  I’m sixthlight on all platforms.

I saw Mary Poppins Returns last night, and it was absolutely delightful, but I did not know that Kobna Holdbrook-Smith was in it! I saw his name in the opening credits and I got really excited!

And then he started talking and uhhhh

It took me a while to figure out which voice he was using because I was sure he’d used it in the audiobooks
