since you guys seemed to like that wip of jason todd that I posted a while ago, here is a little bit more:
[After reciting the entire opening speech of Goodfellas while breaking a guy's hand with a hammer]
He paused. “What do ya think this introductory monologue says about Henry Hill, Jimmy?” Red asked, leaning his hip to the table. “It seems to me that watchin’ his father’s cognitive dissonance— you know, his struggle to make ends meet while maintainin’ that workin’ hard is the only way anybody becomes somebody in this world —made him disillusioned with his prospects as a workin’ class immigrant-descendent and overeager to get ahead. Do ya concur, Jimmy?” Jimmy grunts and Red Hood leans over to take the gag off. “You fucking maniac!” “Yeah, yeah. What about Henry Hill, though?” “I don’t fucking know nothing about no Henry Hill, you psycho!” “Really? You, Jimmy “Slick” Murphy, never watched Goodfellas? Now, that’s just hard to believe.” “What if I have? What’s that got to do with anything?!” “It’s interesting that in that movie, Henry never calls anybody a ‘good fella.’ In the entire movie he always calls everyone ‘wise guy’." Red Hood flips the hammer with one hand and points it at Jimmy. “You see, my theory, Jimmy, is that it has everything to do with who Henry is. Henry is a wise guy, Henry is a liar, Henry is a scheemer, Henry is a rat, Henry is talking directly to the audience, but also to a jury. Henry wants you to believe he is a good fella. You, Jimmy, reminds me of Henry.” He brings the hammer down again, this time towards Jimmy’s knee. Goddamn, does that man howl like a dog.
you see!!!! it's not ALL just me projecting my personal experience living in a city overrun by organized crime and my absolutely bafflement in how dc seems to slowly loose grip to what that looks like just because cosa nostra is not as prominient as it used to be!!!!!!
It's also movie reviews :)
