"Always be there " Paul Lahote
The moment she lifted her gaze, she saw him. Paul was standing in front of Emily’s house, leaning casually against the porch railing, as if he’d been waiting for her specifically. He was wearing only a thin hoodie, as always completely unfazed by the cold. When their eyes met, his face broke into a wide, surprised grin.
She didn’t think for even a second. The car door flew open, and she practically jumped out.
“Paul!” she squeaked, before her teeth even had the chance to start chattering from the cold.
He didn’t even get a chance to say anything, because she was already there. She pressed herself against him, her whole body fitting into his warmth, burying her face in his chest and sliding her hands under his hoodie, searching for heat.
Paul froze for a split second — then let out a laugh.
“Hey, hey, easy there,” he murmured, automatically wrapping his arms around her. “What happened, little fridge?”
“The heater… it doesn’t work,” she muttered, having absolutely no intention of pulling away. “I’m freezing.”
His body was like a living furnace. The wolf’s warmth radiated from him in waves, slowly thawing her fingers, her cheeks, all the tension that had built up during the drive. Paul pulled her even closer, his chin brushing the top of her head.
“You know you have lifetime access to my heat, right?” he said more quietly, softer. “You should’ve called me right away.”
She lifted her head just enough to look up at him, a small smile on her lips.
“Would you have answered?”
“For you?” His eyes glinted. “Always.”
He held her tighter, rocking gently, as if he wanted to keep her exactly where she fit perfectly. The cold stopped mattering. Forks could be damp, gray, and freezing — but with Paul, there was only warmth.
And home. 🤍🐺🔥
