Sweet heart, you know nothing about business, RDJ, is Marvel’s money maker. You’re not going to not a movie because he’s in it.  Others will watch a movie because he’s in it. Maximize your profits. Team Cap and Natasha are on the run. Thor and Bruce are I suppose going though Thor 3 movie, and crossing over would be too confusing. So all the fandom favorites are out. Although I would have loved Rhodey as mentor, this fandom appreciate him. Who is the only available fandom favorite: Tony. Who would it make most sense to have mentor him: Tony. Who plays Tony: RDJ. So complaining that Tony is in everything doesn’t matter to Marvel. There are Tony haters who will watch any movie he’s in to criticize him, there are ones who love the title character more than they hate Tony, there are Tony stans who are going to watch the movie, a lot by the way, because 1) they love Tony so they have see him 2) they love Tony and Peter or 3) movie looks good. So unless people boycott the movie, then Marvel doesn’t care. Of course if people boycott this but didn’t boycott Dr Strange, for whitewashing characters, then the rest of the world sees where your loyalties lay. If I come off offensive, I’m not trying to. If I gave any reason to feel insulted, I apologize. Have a good day/night/ whatever it is right now.

look, sweetheart, you say you’re not trying to offend, buti don’t like the patronising tone you’re taking here. apparently YOU don’t know much about marvel, specifically that spiderman is one of the most loved and popular characters. tom hollands peter had a good introduction in cacw, people liked him. the movie HARDLY needs rdj to make it popular. I even saw a mass of people in the tags, me included, who are seriously reconsidering seeing the movie in theatres in other trailers indicate that tony plays a larger role. simply bc we’re fed up with his ubiquitousness. also: since when does spidey even have a mentor???? he doesn’t need one??? what’s tony even gonna do? give him important life advice (har di har), give him money to build his suits or even build the suits for him? he’s UNNECESSARY. so getting rdj in on the movie, a very popular actor who would demand a lot of money for his appearance, could actually be bad businesswise.

my theory is, that marvel realised that their showpony tony’s popularity took a blow after cacw and now they are trying to make people like him again. my bets are: he becomes the unwilling parental guide to peter, starts having paternal feelings himself, this is supposed to make him likeable.

this pisses me off, bc its going to be another marvel movie that is NOT originally about tony stark, but is used to furthen his character arc.

cacw did and suffered for it.

and why the hell do suggest i didn’t boycott dr strange? lol, i have no intention to see it, the mcu is literally not essential to my life, i am perfectly fine with skipping movies i don’t want to see. i just hope spidey isn’t going to have to be one of them.

Seriously, what is this silliness about RDJ’s “ubiquitousness”?  In what miraculous world do you actually exist? Because I’d like to travel there. In THIS particular world we live in, RDJ is doing one movie a year, while Bradley Cooper and the various Amys and Emmas are in every other movie that comes out.

“Furthening” his “character arc”?  No, friend, MCU is using Tony to “furthen” connection between their movies, and also because: contractual agreement. Sony swapped Spidey to Marvel-Disney in return for an appearance by Tony in Sony’s Spider-Man: Homecoming. Don’t like it? Feel free to complain to the agents and negotiators.
