The Meeting

It was a cold, damp night on the path. Geralt had been walking for hours on end. Finally, he made it to a Tavern just outside Tameria. 'One drink can't hurt,' he thought. He decides to put his hood on and lay low. Making sure Roach was secured, The Witcher steps inside.
Naturally, he catches some of the patron's eyes, being a Witcher and all. They all start to whisper, but Geralt tries not to mind it. He makes it to the counter and orders some ale. While nursing his drink, he begins plotting his next move and where he should head. A loud crash disturbs The Witcher's thoughts. "Oy, what business you have here, Mutant?" A random man approaches. Geralt sits unbothered. The man gets in his face. "Are you deaf, killer? I asked you a question." still gaining no response from the monster hunter, the man gets frustrated and attempts to strike. Just as Geralt is about to block his attack, the man stops.
Everyone in the Tavern watches in shock, thinking a fight will break out. The man stands completely still as if in a trance, then abruptly reaches into his pocket and drops a bag full of coins in front of Geralt. In a monotone voice, the man thanks The Witcher for his services and leaves the Tavern. Geralt, who is very confused about what just happened, returns to his drink; once finished, he leaves the bag of coins in the hands of the owner. Little did The Witcher know a green hooded figure had been in the Tavern watching his every move, continuing to watch him through the establishment window as he left.
Now, further away from the alehouse, Geralt's medallion hums a bit. Clutching the necklace, he continues on. The hum starts to get louder. "I know you're there," he states. A branch snaps, and he turns to look toward the sound. "Come out now or else," Geralt reaches for his sword. "Alright, no need for the sword," expresses the green hooded figure behind the tree. The figure approaches Geralt, but he lifts his weapon to stop it. "Oh, relax. I'm not here to harm you," she declares as she removes the hood.
The Witcher stares at the curly, black-haired woman before him. "Why are you following me, mage?" Geralt grumbles. She smiles. "I haven't come across one of your kind before Witcher. I'm curious." Geralt puts his sword away. "So you stalk me in the woods?" She laughs. "Well, I guess I was nervous to approach you. Is this your horse?" The woman walks towards the mare and begins to pet. Geralt watches, slightly annoyed. "Her name is Roach." She whips her head at The Witcher. "I'm sorry, come again? Roach?" Geralt nods. "What a strange name for a beauty like her." She steps back, now returning her attention to Geralt. "Do you have a name?" she questions. He looks into her stary emerald eyes.
"Geralt of Rivia." The mage flashed him a devilish smile and held out her hand. "Nice to meet you, Geralt of Rivia." The Witcher reluctantly shakes her hand. "And who might you be?" She contemplates, then bowed. "Celestina of Tameria if you're fancy; otherwise, you can call me Celeste." Geralt eyed the beautiful mage before him.
"Oh, and by the way, you're welcome." He looks at her, confused. Taking notice of this, Celeste continues, "For stopping that man in the Tavern, You're welcome." Geralt connects the dots: "So it was you who intervened." she nods. "You did not need to do that; I can handle myself." Celeste walks closer to Geralt til she's entirely in front of him. "If I hadn't, I'm sure the people would've spun the story and made you the bad guy. They should be grateful your kind exists." The mage studies The Witcher. Taking note of his white hair and gorgeous amber eyes.
"Well, like I said, it was nice meeting you, but I have to go." She goes to pet Roach again and walks past Geralt, but not before leaning close to his ear. "You're not as bad as everyone says you are," she whispers. They lock eyes once more as she chuckles, reaching to pull her hood up. "See you around, Witcher," Celeste declares as she disappears into the night. Now intrigued by the woman, Geralt makes camp and thinks about his encounter with The Emerald Witch.
