Interesting mix of a jazz indie sound.
Week Of June 19th-25th R.O.T.W
I have a very serious love for alternative RnB. It’s perfect for me because it mixes such interesting electro/sometimes synthy beats with such smooth voices, and I can’t help but fall in love. I recently came across this, and it’s definitely worth a listen. The Pheels exclusively premiered their song via Saint Heron, a collaborative album for independent RnB visionaries. “French Toast” is innovative in its sound but so nicely familiar. This is Release of the Week.
Here’s our first teaser from ABRA’s upcoming Princess EP, set to release July 15th. “Crybaby” is a fun electro-pop track from the singer. It’s very reminiscent of 80′s pop, and listening to intro, I got a brief flash to Whitney’s “Dance With Somebody”. I personally really enjoy ABRA’s soft airy RnB voice, and in “Crybaby”, there’s a faint ghostly vibe from the back vocals that pairs nicely with hers on the track. With this being her first single in a year since her “Rose” album, I’m excited to see what’s in store.
