Cadance knocked on the door that led into the queen's cell. "Chrysalis, can I come in? I've got something for you~" Cadance's tone was like a foal's, slightly more high-pitched than normal and much more excited.

The cells were much like they had been the last few months, though the ‘throne’ at the entrance had been noticeably broken up and put back together. The bed was also no longer a solid mass of changeling cement, it almost looked like a normal bed again. If a little stained from the goop that had once covered it. The Queen lying back on the bed was bright eyed and rested, if incredibly bored. The truth was, she had never been this well fed. The temptation to just leave was still hampered by the wish to keep being fed. For now.

Leaning up from the bed, Chrysalis gave a sigh.

“It could be a knife for my back and I wouldn’t complain.” She whined, though she pulled herself up with more than a little energy.

“Alright, what is it.”

{Reunion in the Past}

Flurry felt like a bundle of nerves as she approached the Crystal Palace, her home, and a place she should be going to with perfect ease and comfort. In fact it was where she would normally be fleeing to for protection and sanctuary under any normal circumstance. 

But this was far from normal. The circumstance had taken her out of her own time and into the past. A past she hoped to better with her presence. But to do that, she had dare the danger of the butterfly effect and show herself in the Crystal Palace even as her infant self was probably playing and throwing mashed peas at her nannies or parents.

Flurry appeared at the front gates and asked to be allowed to see the Princess and Prince and showed her own crown but did not give her name so as not to sound insane. The guards looked at one another deemed her not dangerous. But getting into the castle was harder. Firstly, the older stallion squinted at her in some disbelief, probably seeing the resemblance to the infant Cadance and Shining had in their care. The elderly butler finally budged when Flurry produced an official looking scroll that stated she had permission to enter. Sure enough, the scroll had the stamp of the Crystal Empire at the bottom of it. The butler let her in at last and the alicorn ducked through the door and walked the halls, turning heads where ever she went, likely because of her height but perhaps also because of the striking resemblance to baby Flurry Heart.

She was told she would find Princess Cadance in the throne rooms at this hour, and so that was where she went. The staff stared in puzzlement as the stranger did not need any directions to get where she needed to go. When she reached the throne room her wing feathers almost ruffled in feather. 

Mother, she thought. 

She did not want to scare her. She hoped the meeting would go smoothly. 

Mother, I am here.

Define: Love

Almas rested his chin on his hoof to think about that one. His better senses told him one thing but he also knew that not all pessimism was deep and worthy of being voiced. Usually the truth lay somewhere in between.

“There are several definitions. There’s the chemical response to seeing an object of affection. There’s the emotion we lend so much meaning to. Then there’s the abstract concept of a force that binds one or more people together through a sense of endearment and affection and something more mysterious. Whether you believe in it or not is another question.” He flicked the dippy bird that sat on the corner of his desk which had no glass of water to put its beak into right now.

One hell of a Question.

It turns out - surprisingly enough - that when it was petitioner day at the Crystal Palace, well... the queues were somewhere between immense and British in length.

Heart was fairly close to the front, but that hadn’t come easy. It had taken him a few days of travel, a lot of effort, and at least one bribe to a security guard that thought Heart didn’t look ‘official enough’.

Still - he had made it, and his turn was coming up.

If there was one thing that could be said about the Crystal Empire’s appearance, it was that it was stunning beyond all belief. Which was intimidating as hell for the poor unicorn.

Still, it was half the appearance of the place and half the question he was about to ask that was causing this unicorn to sweat bullets.

A guard called out, startling Heart and nearly making him stumble forward. The guard, to his credit, didn’t even blink.

The doors opened, and Heart went through, mustering as much confidence as he could.

Who said “I love you” first: ok so like… either Trixie says it and Twilight’s just S H O O K bc that might explain a lot or Twilight says it in like a completely fucking platonic sense and Trixie is even more shook because she knows the intent but.. still. She never expected to hear that from her. If she wasn’t so prideful she’d cry in front of her.

Who would have the other’s picture as their phone background: dude if we’re gonna pretend cell phones exist in Equestria and not set this to an EQG verse.. once they get comfortable with one another they’re both so proud of their magician / princess significant other that they just both do it and they’re like THAT’S MY MAREFRIEND whenever someone opens their mouth to say anything about it

Who leaves notes written in fog on the bathroom mirror: Twilight! Trixie calls her a nerd or whatever but it’s actually the cutest shit to her. I honestly feel like both of them might be the type to leave notes lying around tho. Twilight’s would be super sweet and helpful and Trixie’s would just be like.. really playful and probably near insignificant lol. 

Who buys the other cheesy gifts: OKAY SO I SAY BOTH ON ALL OF THESE CAUSE IT’S TRUE BUT IF WE’RE TALKING CHEESY IT’S GOTTA BE TWILIGHT. Trixie buys her cheesy gifts too but.. Twilight would probably be the cheese master.

Who initiated the first kiss: I can imagine Twilight doing it and Trixie being shocked and incredibly twitterpated. Then Trixie tries to act mad that she beat her to it but she can’t.

Who kisses the other awake in the morning: Finally I can answer Trixie on this one with confidence. Of course she’d have to be awake early enough and not go directly back to sleep but it’s well worth it to see the book nerd giggle and stuff.

Who starts tickle fights: ALSO I can answer Trixie on this one. Twilight’s just like lol you’re fucking on.

Who asks who if they can join the other in the shower: Trix? Although she’s such a little shit that she’d probably just show up like hey how’s it going? I’m surprised you don’t read in here. I’m just gonna join you now.

Who surprises the other in the middle of the day at work with lunch: Okokok either or, if possible. Whatever is easiest. They’re both super supportive once they become friends / start dating and like to surprise the other.

Who was nervous and shy on the first date: TRIXIE. Twilight is too but Trixie’s so scared she’s gonna make Twilight mad and fuck everything up bc that’s what she’s used to. Eventually Twi’s just like.. y’know you can act like yourself, right? That was all in the past.

Who kills/takes out the spiders: Trixie’s just screeching like KILL IT and Twilight probably just.. uses her magic and puts it outside like.. seriously Trixie you don’t even have to touch it with your hooves.

Who loudly proclaims their love when they’re drunk: Trixie - very dramatically - and Twilight doesn’t know whether to be embarrassed or flattered so not long after that she probably tries to get her the heck out of there bc she’s had too much.

((I actually really like Almas as a character. From what I've seen, he's the best kind of villain, the one that snarks around and makes clever jokes. He makes me wanna smack him but also congratulate him. xD I think this blog is really nice, and I wish I followed it sooner! You're no slouch whether it comes to canons or OCs in my opinion.))

thank you, that means a lot. I put a lot of work into my characters’ stories and psychology. I mostly fear letting all these lovely people down now. It seems the blog has a sudden surge of visibility and it’s a little scary lol
