 1. What is your family/friends/community like? Tell me about those fleshy people you associate with! Uh my family is a bit...kooky? My elder sister and I are pretty much just alike, except she has math skillz that I lack greatly.

My partners are very different from me but we mesh well somehow. xD

My best friend is just as potty-mouthed and dirty minded as I am. Her ex thought she was cheating with me because we spent so much time together and played so much Left 4 Dead.

I'm not sure how "in" the Kemetic community I am but I'm trying to work into it more and actually speak up and share. :3 I silently fangirl over a bunch of the people I follow. I don't really have much of a community aside from it so I'm trying to contribute <3

2. What is it that you are most interested and/or invested in?

My religion and how it relates to the rest of my little life. Death, mortuary work, and bone collecting all kind of tie into it all. I like thinking about it all as kind of woven together and sometimes the weaver is a little (lot) drunk but it looks kind of cool anyway.

Aside from all that creating things of all sorts, my job, food, animals.

3. Three favorite pieces of writing? Why? Quotes/books/stories/comic series/articles/whatever, all accepted ;-)

I am intensely fond of some lyrics to Cradle of Filth songs.

Sometimes I get frustrated that I never seem to end up anywhere except endless neither-here-nor-there places. Then I see other peoples’ astral experiences and I’m happy just wandering the highways again. Damn.

I like when my astral life is quiet because the dreams are more entertaining when things are quiet. However, ever since the stakes got raised in my astral life, my dreams have been a lot of the same- I travel places. I talk to people. I make deals and discuss things that I don't remember. I fight. I kill people, I avoid getting killed.

And then I go home to wake up in my bed- if I managed to get back on time.

It's a lot of faces and places that I barely remember and conversations that I probably should remember, but don't.

This whole nightmare torture stuff is very not normal for me. I can count on one hand how many nightmares I've had over the years. All in all, my dreams are pretty dull, tbh.

Ah, I see. I started working with them entirely by accident, and I've not done nearly so much as I'd like yet either. But it's nice to know that there's somebody else out there!

I think there are a couple others out there, as well, I'm just not entirely sure who.

I think "The Big Four" is more popular than The Guardians themselves.

Yes hello I just saw you post on the Square Gods discussion and YOU WORK WITH THE GUARDIANS TOO?

Not as much as I would like to.

So far, it's mostly just acknowledging them. I do plan to celebrate North throughout December and possibly leave some offerings for Jack as the weather is finally starting to cool off. I'd love to get an altar set up for the Guardians, complete with the books and a representation of each of them, but we'll see.

The emotional baggage of psychopomps...

So, the-desert-runner had a query in a previous post regarding psychopomps and burnout, particularly how Anpu can manage it and still seem pretty on-the-level emotionally.  We're pulling this from fanmail and asks to open discussion to get some viewpoints from others who have been in the faith(s) for longer than we have.

Okay, so, my take on this is that he is actively helping people transition. That’s a huge responsibility, but it is actively helping people during a major life/death event. That takes a lot of compassion and understanding. To know what each individual needs, to weigh their fates and determine the proper course? Each person would offer something new and different, even if similar to so many others. I mean, I’m sure we all fall under basic aspects here, but everything is just a little bit tweaked for our individual lives and merits. He gets to do that, study that, determine everything from there. He helps. Plus, there’s that graveyard humor aspect of everything. ;)

Did you ever see that adorable Lil Reaper vid where the bitty reaper creates clothes for the souls and they go with him willingly? It's the same deal. Instead of being all pushy and domineering, it's all kindness and compassion. To help others is an amazing feeling. Don't know if that helps any. 

(ETA:  I actually do have more to say on this, but we're both a bit braindead and so we're slowly working it.  Maybe my next contribution to this discussion will sound half-way intelligent.  Maybe.)
