The concept of qamek was introduced as an offhand mention (a joke, even) by Fenris in DA2 and further expanded on in Those Who Sleep, both of which were written by David Gaider - who has also given us such gems as the divine right of kings for the Theirins via dragon blood, the concept that both the templars and mages are equally bad in their extremes, the usage of women characters as vehicles for the men to have narrative pain (via their own deaths, usually), and of course, the classic nickname, "the militant Islamic Borg". Charming.
Sten - and the Qunari as a whole - were first developed by Mary Kirby, who decidedly did not characterize the Qunari as an end-all, be-all force of destruction. Extremely flawed, yes - but no more so than, say, Orlais, who invaded Ferelden and were demonstrated to have raped, pillaged, and otherwise destroyed everything in their path if not appropriately attended.
(Mary Kirby and Sheryl Chee both wrote the bulk of the Mark of the Assassin DLC, which was basically a massive argument for the idea that the people who live under the Qun are just people. DA2 itself also made a pretty strict point of making it clear that living conditions for the elves in Kirkwall were so bad that they were converting to the Qun, quite willingly, in droves.)
I would argue that the representation of an entire culture that is pretty clearly implied to be POC - one of the few explicitly so, in the world of Thedas - as a mindless, conquering hivemind, by a team of writers almost entirely made of white Canadians, especially when their first representations in Origins showed that to be absolutely not the case, to be, uhh, pretty fucking wild.
Not to mention kagome’s and Inuyasha’s relationships actually pretty abusive? I know the beads of subjugation started as a necessary precaution but after a while it just became an excuse for Kagome to take out all her aggression on him if he says something even slightly unthoughtful. Super yikes I’m retrospect.
to be fair the anime made it ten times worse (she stopped using it pretty early in the manga as far as I remember) and the “beat ur love interest/be an asshole to show your affection” was very popular back in the day, both in shojo and shonen and even things I love aren’t exempt (fma, slayers)

You guys remember when I did SOUL match-ups, right? Well, I’m going to reopen them briefly at the end of the month, and when I hit a certain number, I’ll close them. I’ll let you guys know this again closer to the date, but I just wanted to give everyone a heads up in case you want to go ahead and make your SOUL and have it saved and ready.
I’m also saying this so I can let you guys know to not send me any of these SOULs before the match-ups open. I love seeing them, don’t get me wrong, but I know if I answer a headcanon request about a specific SOUL, I’mma be opening up a can of worms that I’m not equipped to handle at the moment.

Likes: Drawing, writing, listening to game soundtracks and musicals, watching cartoons, playing video games (RPGs like Mass Effect and Survival Horror like Silent Hill are my favs) I love the fantasy and Sci-Fi genres especially. I enjoy pretty much any book, movie, or game that has likeable characters, an interesting story, and a detailed world I can immerse myself and get lost in. Making lists. Animals. Especially dogs and cats. Puns (I won’t go around spouting puns but I do like them. 50% of the enjoyment is how much other people hate them. The cringier the better) Swimming. Staying up late and sleeping in. I love bad weather; rainy days are soothing and snowy days are exciting for me. I’m a homebody, usually enjoying just relaxing at home but when I enjoy aimlessly wandering exploring. I enjoy having quiet time to relax. (And would go so far as to say I need it)
Dislikes: Driving. Cooking. (Not bad at it just don’t like to do it XD) Being responsible for another person’s well being. (I mean I’ll do my best and all, but I won’t like it) Hot weather. Especially humid heat. I dislike people who try to force everyone to agree with their opinions. And people who constantly nag and berate others while never recognizing the good and offering no positive reinforcement. Lying (I don’t need someone to spill all their secrets and tell me everything but just be honest with me about it.) I hate being surrounded by rowdy and loud strangers. (I’m good with Friends being loud though) Marriage and having kids. While I’m not completely opposed to it, I am extremely intimidated by the thought. Politics. (I pay attention because it effects my life and I have to but I hate it.)
What are you looking for in a match: Someone who remembers to include me while respecting my boundaries. Someone who can just be with me through my lows. Someone I could be friends with first and foremost.
Any deal breakers: I consider myself a laid back and reasonable person, except when it comes to my sense of justice. While I won’t try to force other people to think the way I do, and I would try to talk out differences, if that failed, I would probably remove myself from that relationship. (Depending on the severity of the issue) The big issue for me that might be relevant is my stance violence. While I recognize the fact that sometimes violence is the only option you have, I do feel that it should always be a last resort. But if someone is always violent and cruel unnecessarily, then I’d have to draw the line. And torture is an absolute no. Not acceptable under any circumstances.
Anything else I should know?
I guess some negatives of my personality. I’m usually calm and all about compromise but when my loved ones or beliefs are threatened, I become stubborn, loose my temper, and throw myself into conflict. I’m a procrastinator and prone to self-sabotage. My humor is usually sarcastic and I do enjoy dark humor but will devolve into self-deprecation when feeling low. (Which is more often then I like admitting.)

He’s a pretty self-sufficient guy, so you don’t have to worry that he can’t take care of himself because actually, he’ll probably take care of you! Or at least he’ll try to help you with with the parts you don’t like, like cooking and driving! XD

He really does love hanging out with you so he may be a little clingy from time to time, but if you need some alone time, all you have to do is ask. He may forget it occasionally, but he does understand that some people need time and space to decompress. He learned that the hard way with his little brother and if you’re a little like Paps that way, then he totally gets it and can give you that solo-time-- you just have to be able to tell him when.
For the rest of the time, you’ll never be lacking in ultra-genuine positivity and a certain joie de vivre to brighten up your day-- Sky brings both in spades!

Siblings: Though not a biological sibling, Mazaitom Nana is your step-brother. However, your parents were married while the two of you were still quite young and you’ve grown up with him almost your whole life. He’s very much your brother in your mind, and you’re very much his sister in his and blood doesn’t change that fact. The two of you are really close and have a great personal friendship and a working relationship, since the two of you often team up during Hunts whenever you can.
Best friend: You met Melody very early in your career as a Hunter, having run into her in a city during your first official Hunt. She was playing a piece of music that you found so enchanting that you couldn’t tear yourself away. You absolutely had to speak with her and compliment her after she finished. The two of you shared a nice conversation and, with each time you bumped into each other, you found yourself gaining a strong friendship with her. Since you met her many years ago, you’re one of the few people in your group who knows what Melody used to look like before the Sonata changed her appearance and also one of the few she feels comfortable sharing her anger about her new appearance with.
Since I like imagining all the different requester’s in the Hunter x Hunter universe together, where I can, I headcanon that, by being in a solid relationship with Knuckle, you gained not only a boyfriend, but the anon below who was written up as his younger sister. She was quite jealous when you first started dating her brother, since it took his attention away from her and you were a little jealous of how he’d break dates if she called and said she absolutely needed him to do something for her. However, once the initial jealousy of each other wore off, the two of you actually managed to become friends and you’ll often have her over for supper whenever you and Knuckle are home. She’s also the one who watch your pets for you whenever the two of you are gone.
You have a series of sketch-books in which you have collected various sketches of your friends and family in your house. Knuckle loves relaxing and looking through them whenever you let him and he’ll blush and feel very proud whenever he sees pictures you’ve done of him, though he’ll gruffly complain about how cute you made him look.
