Ahhhh fam! I know this is probably super random but I LOVE brimstone and roses! I just saw the new banner of Alex and Bae and I kinda noticed that the glass shattered over his head looks like a broken halo (lowkey)! I just found it very interesting! The way you draw and portray ur story is just so pleasing and beautiful to see. To say I was blown away with these last few chaps would be an understatement, those clothes like 👀 DAMN! It’s an absolute joy to read b&r! Thank u for sharing ur story!

For the WIP game: “rest”, “hurt” or “live”

#1:

Zen's hands clench on cotton twill, unpleasantly clammy. That's not what's happening here. They're just laughing the way friends do, not-- not with any flirty hair-flipping, or casual knee-brushing. He can see her feet from here, wrapped around the rungs of the chair to steady herself, and the way Obi's got his hips angled away from her, toward the rest of the shop.

#2:

His mouth purses, annoyed. “I don’t think you’re taking this very seriously.”

“I’m handling it with the seriousness it deserves,” she informs him primly, her tone implying another half to the sentence, which is none.

“I’ll have you know it hurts.” At least it does now, now that he’s said it. Stings, quite honestly, like skin pinched in a hinge, too full for too long.

#3:

“You have her eyes.” He’s breathless as he says it, awed. “Your mother’s, I mean.”

Her hand clenches in her skirt. “You knew her?”

“Barely,” he admits with a laugh, the moment broken. “I was hardly in trousers when she left. Come--” he steps aside, sweeping a hand toward the table-- “sit. I’ll tell you all I remember.”

Her hand hovers between them, uncertain. She had wondered about her father as a child; that one glimpse from the stair had sparked a legend inside her. He was a mystery to unravel, a man who traveled in shadows and shrouded himself in secrets, the kind that lived only in rumor, and she was an imaginative child. At times she was the daughter of a pirate king, or a long lost princess meant to save her people from the terrible tyrant that usurped the throne.

1. Tell us about your current project(s)  – what’s it about, how’s progress, what do you love most about it?

For fic, along with the dystopian AU, I'm trying to get far enough into a background fic I've been writing to fill the Sports square in the way I really really want to fill it! I can also fill it if I get far enough on the Regency square, but I've been wanting to unveil this "Sports" fic for a long long time because it's just the sort of dumb tropey thing that Andi goes in for, lol.

5. What character that you’re writing do you most identify with?

I'll say Ryuu. Every time I write him, I tap into my pre-college self who was awkward in a whole lot of ways but still eager to do good and make friends.

6. What character do you have the most fun writing?

I love writing Obi. No surprises there. XD

9. Are you more of a drabble or a longfic kind of writer? Pantser or plotter? Do you wish you were the other?

Almost everything I come up with is longfic really, with me trying my hardest to limit myself to just one portion and almost always failing completely. I'm definitely a plotter, but I also tend to discover stories as I'm writing them because I don't make myself be married to outlines, and then the next version of the story is totally different.

19. Is there something you always find yourself repeating in your writing? (favourite verb, something you describe ‘too often’, trope you can’t get enough of?)

"Just" and "sigh" are big ones. I think I do variations on "sit" and "stand" too much too.

20. Tell us the meta about your writing that you really want to ramble to people about (symbolism you’ve included, character or relationship development that you love, hidden references, callbacks or clues for future scenes?)

Nothing is jumping out at me right now!

21. What other medium do you think your story would work well as? (film, webcomic, animated series?)

I mean, I'm always imagining my stories as TV series or movies, especially my original fiction. Whether they would ACTUALLY translate well or not is another thing entirely!

23. What’s the story idea you’ve had in your head for the longest?

Besides what I mentioned earlier, I've had the idea for what I actually did for Nano 2020 in my head since about 2011 or possibly 2010, and the basic idea was "neverending winter keeps main protagonists apart." It's just changed forms several times. I actually started it as a fic in 2017, but I think in planning out that fic, I actually stepped into what I really wanted to do for the original version. So I scrapped the fic and since then, the story has changed again a couple more times, and it's even changed since last year, but I know what I really like about it now. Though it does have a whole lot more big twists in it now, so it's going to be an even bigger challenge to pull off than ever.

1. favourite fandom you joined this year

Oh jeez, my grasp on the passage of time is... not so great, lol. So these may be fandoms that I joined in previous years, BUT-- I really, really liked Kimetsu no Yaiba, that was great, but I didn’t really involve myself in the fandom. Also poked my nose in Gokoshufudou’s fandom strictly because I wanted to see if there was a pegging fic (there was. just one. it was glorious). And hmmm... maybe Hakuouki? Considering I am drafting a fic for it, lol. But only because I COULDN’T FIND WHAT I WANTED ON AO3 XD

5. favourite mood board of the year

It’s times like these that I am grateful that I tag everything, lol. It’s THIS ONE by @leewritingrecs for her fic, Moonlight Phantom, that I am WAITING PATIENTLY FOR MORE OF *staring intensifies*

12. longest fic you read this year

You know, I’m not sure. I’m going through my AO3 history and there’s nothing, like, NEW that I added to my reading list and binged. I’ve just been keeping up with the authors I follow. That might be because I decided to focus a little more on reading my new years resolution by reading x number of books this year... which I accomplished and then some :D

4.  what was the biggest change you experienced this year?

- Hmmm... I think it was my decision to stop viewing my relatives as people I must, under all circumstances, keep in my life. I stomped my foot one day and screamed more or less “this ends now!!” and I feel so much better. I can finally tune out all the shit, the guilt-tripping, and the snark, that my aunts, uncles, cousins and grandmother is capable of spewing out. They don’t matter, their opinions don’t matter, and screw the idea that blood is thicker than water.

5.  best song of the year?

Thiiiiiiiiis one, gosh how I wish I had discovered her before <3 <3 <3 The groove is to die for~

17.  what are some hobbies that you developed?

- I bettered my art! For one. I experimented with my makeup, trying out colours I’ve never dared use before (my brown eyes may never ‘pop’, but daaaaamn can they carry just about any color combination) OH! And I did some multiplayer gaming, with my little sister and her crew of British buddies. I enjoy gaming, but I’ve always been very nervous about playing with other people, so this was super refreshing~

So ehm, in a sense I haven’t developed any *new* hobbies, just improved on old ones XD

18. what surprised you the most this year?

How much stronger I got. Physically. I’ve logged a couple hundred miles on my bike, my balance has improved drastically, and while planks are still the devil, they’re a devil I can do battle against for more than 7.2 seconds at a time.
