Imagine loving Raven and finally making her smile, after loosing feelings in her leg and watching Finn die.

All you had ever wanted since the accident was to see Raven smile again. She had lost the feeling in her left leg and saw Finn die, right in front of her and since that, you hadn’t seen her smile.

Right now, you were looking at the brown-haired girl taking all her frustrations and anger out by fumbling around in her little mechanic room, trying to do several projects at once. You brushed one hand through your hair while taking a deep breath, before entering the open door.

You and Raven had always been close. You grew up together on the Ark, fooling around while learning how to be a mechanic, stayed up late together, talking about how it would be like living on earth back in time, you spent almost everyday together, and you witnessed her and Finn’s relationship evolve. You had always been happy for Raven and Finn, since it was clear how happy he made her - happy, in a way you could never have. But there was always this other feeling buried deep in your chest through all those years but you could never figure out what it was. Until the day where you and Raven where one of the few left on the Ark, after Kane had shipped 100 prisoners down to earth. Though now, instead of being taught mechanics, you were refurbishing an old escape pod to get you to earth, back down to the others. And even though the circumstances were completely different, it almost felt like old days, where it was just you and Raven - till the two of you actually made it down to earth, with a few scratches here and there, and Raven and Finn reunited. That’s where you realized what the feeling, you had been feeling all these years, was. It was love. Your love for Raven was beyond what you could ever explain. You had always been there by her side and you would do anything for her. But you also knew that you could never compare to Finn and Raven’s love for him. You would always just be her friend.

No response.

“Raven.” You raised your voice a bit louder and raised an eyebrow, while following her quickly pacing back and forth, mumbling to herself.

You knew you weren’t gonna get an answer by just talking to her so you walked straight over to her and grabbed her shoulders. “Raven, snap out of it!” You looked at her filled with worries and a questionable look.

She clearly got a chock by the sudden realization that she wasn’t alone anymore and finally looked at you, acknowledging your presence. “Y/N.. I’m sorry. I must had been in my own world there..” She was shaky and clearly out of it.

“You really need to rest.” You let go of her shoulders and made a quick gesture towards the couch in the end of the room. “Just for a few hours. Please, I can’t remember the last time I saw you sleep, Raven.” You pleaded her, but Raven was already slowly but steady zooming back into her own world, beginning to fiddling with a screwdriver again.

You sighed loudly and took a tight hold of her wrist and turned her around to face you. “Raven, listen to me!” The moment Raven’s eyes met yours you saw why she had turned her back to you. Her eyes were red and filled with water, threatening to burst any second. Your look changed from annoyed and worried to chocked and sad. You had only seen Raven like this one time before, and that was when she figured out Finn was on that drop ship towards earth. You loosened your grip around her waist but still held on to it. “Raven..” Your voice was nothing but a weak whisper and you didn’t know what else to do, other than pulling her into a tight hug.

And that’s where she finally broke down. She sobbed uncontrollable into your shoulder and wrapped her arms tightly around you. You placed one arm around her neck and the other leaning against her shoulder, so your hand could caress the back of her head. You knew that all she needed right now was to just cry, so you stayed silent and tried to hold all of her broken pieces together.

You were both sitting on the couch, Raven drying her eyes and you caressing her back. She had finally calmed down and were able to talk again with you. As in, actually talk. You hadn’t talked that much since the Ark and honestly, it felt good finally knowing how she felt and what she was thinking again.

“I’m really glad you’re here, Y/N.” She sniffled and looked up at you with sincere eyes.

You shook your head and gave her a tiny smile. “I always will.”

Raven nodded and dried the last of her tears away from her eyes with the back of her hand, after which she leaned into you, rested her head on your shoulder and wrapped her one arm around your stomach. “Will you sing for me?”

She knew you were a terrible singer and also that you absolutely hated singing in general. But when you and Raven were younger, you made up your own song about two mechanic girls who grew up to be powerful ladies, inventing all kinds of cool stuff. It was a really bad song with shit lyrics and a messy melody, but it was yours.

You sighed deeply and leaned your head back against the couch in embarrassment before you slowly began singing, with your shaky and unstable singing voice. If you could even call it a singing voice. And after the first few lines, you were just about to stop until you caught Raven smile.
