I don't have a ton of party girls, so this one was pretty clear: Thea Alcott through and through. Partying, making ill-advised decisions, blacking out, then carrying on as it none of it ever happened.

Honestly though, this is such a good hype song. Driving with the windows down, dancing, doing shots—whatever works for you.

“What do you want to do, Thea?” Sally asked, thumbing her clipboard. “After community service? What do you want to do with your life?”

“Dunno. Make a dating profile, become a housewife, pop out a couple of kids. ASBO makes it kind of hard to be a career woman.”

“But not impossible. I’m not necessarily condoning your...illicit activities, but...they did leave your with a certain skill set.”

“Forgery?” Thea laughed, and kicked her legs up on the office couch. “You want me to work for police? Big banking corp?”

“A knowledge of prescription medication,” Sally said tersely. “There’s nothing stopping you from going back to school, turning your life around. You could be a nurse – a doctor, even. You don’t have to be a criminal.”

Thea offered her a vicious smile. “Who’s to say I can’t be both?”

Thea Alcott and Tessa Mayfield

Thea didn’t really speak to her sister. They were split up in the divorce, Tessa acting out while Thea...also acted out, but didn’t get caught. It drove Tessa up the wall, watching her sister bounce between their parents – always looking like the golden child while she was screwing guys and selling drugs on the side. Thea got an allowance, and Tessa got grounded.

Needless to say, they weren’t on the best of terms.

After the storm hits, Thea doesn’t spare a thought for her sister. Not until Tessa shows up with an eerily similar dye-job and a power all her own. While Thea can manipulate her own voice, Tessa can manipulate the thoughts of others. Which could prove to be a real problem if Nathan ever shuts up about a threesome.

“Hey, Candy Floss!” Against her better judgement, Thea looked up to find the Irish boy leering at her again. He was draped across the middle bench like some would-be-casual model, his paintbrush between his teeth. He waggled his eyebrows, and spat it out long enough to ask, “Care to be bench buddies?”

She summoned up her best look of pity and disgust.

“Don’t put that in your mouth. You’ve probably got herpes.”

“What’s it to you?” he asked. “Unless you’re planning to sample the merchandise? Wait - are you sayin’ I’ve got herpes from the brush or that I’m leaving it on there? Cause that’s mean!”

Thea pulled her iPod out of her pocket and swiftly put her headphones back in.

i need to know all there is to know about thea alcott pronto; anything and everything you've got stat. relationships with the others? powers? likes/dislikes? general aesthetic? whatever you've thought of?? like i haven't seen a good misfits oc; i am just so f'ing curious about what you think!

Ummm I’m always happy to oblige!

So the thing about Thea is that she doesn’t really know who she is. Her parents divorced when she was young, and she spent a lot of her former years trying to be everything they wanted her to be. Her mum wanted a straight-A musician, her dad wanted a sports star who could be one of the guys, and so on. She just has these personalities she tries on for different occasions. So a lot of her personality is performative in that, if you left her alone, she’s not certain she’d have much substance at all. It’s both a source of confidence and insecurity for her.

When the storm hits, her power isn’t very obvious at first because it’s more of a party trick. She has mimicry, which means she can duplicate anyone’s voice once she’s heard it. Nathan gives her a lot of shit, because it really is something of a bullshit power, but it does come in handy when you’re trying to cover up a murder. 

Obviously, because I am a predictable lil ho, it will be a Nathan story at heart. She’s also very close with Kelly, who is my second favorite character, and I also decided to do some fun things with Marnie from the Christmas special. I thought it was a shame we got her so late and so briefly, so she kind of ends up being a driving force as Thea’s flatmate and schoolyard friend.

I’m still going through all of my inspo posts to tag her, but very soon you should be able to go through the “thea inspo” and “nathea” tags on my blog to get her vibes.

omg zhea that is so cute i love

so they don’t exactly talk at the start, but i feel like there would immediately be a sense of mutual respect

like “imma do my bad bitch thing over here, and you do your bad bitch thing over there, and we won’t have any issues”

this is besides the point, but nathan is beside himself starting day one because he cannot get over how he landed in community service with two hot blondes that look so similar

“i’m tellin’ you! it’s like princess and the pauper! but porn!”

that joke does not get him far

once they get their powers, then they really start not talking at all

because this is so beyond what zed signed up for and thea is not about to put herself in the path of someone who forces people to tell the truth

not when she’s living about four different lies at any point in time

but as time goes on and the secrets come out, that actually becomes their biggest bonding point

“oh cool, you’re lying to both your parents about what you’re doing every day? here’s a list of outrageous lies i too have told my parents. nice to meet a fellow professional.”

and it results in them becoming essentially the tightest improv duo of all time. one of them could tell a lie to someone and the other would confirm and elaborate without missing a beat. they’re just on the same wavelength that way.

zed’s also one of the only people that thinks thea’s power is more entertaining than it is pathetic

she’s always asking her to do impressions or sing different songs in different voices. it’s nice to know that their powers can be used for fun and not just in crippling angsty situation.

both of them are jealous of the other person’s life, and constantly living vicariously though each other.

“your dad’s throwing another benefit? that’s fancy!” “it’s boring as fuck and i’d rather rip my face off. come with me so i don’t.”

“your flat is so cozy! it must be nice to have your own independent space.” “there is no climate control and i pay more than my life’s worth in rent but go off i guess.”
