To keep you busy! 8, 9, 15, 20, 23, and 26 for all characters.
8. Are they a quick thinker or do they need time to sort through their thoughts?
Shibui: She’s been trained to be decently good at thinking on her feet (paws), but given the choice, she’d rather take her time. Usually it’s not good to let her take TOO much time though, because she starts overthinking things.
Pangur: Definitely not a quick thinker. If you asked him to make a snap decision, he would probably panic and blurt out something dumb. He needs lots of time to sort out his thoughts and feelings and decide what to do with them.
Irastus: He never thinks before he says/does stuff. He just does it.
Matteus: Moderate-slow? He doesn’t really take his time, but he’s not a speedy decision maker either. He’ll think it through, but he won’t spend more than a few minutes waffling over a decision.
Thea: Moderate-fast. She doesn’t like to spend too much time thinking or worrying about things, but if it’s something that requires thought, she’ll give it... some.
9. Does your character dream or are their nights filled with an empty blackness? Describe a dream they’ve had or a night they couldn’t sleep
Shibui: For a long time she had nightmares. After the whole thing with the GBs especially, she had frequent bad dreams and didn’t sleep well. Usually it was dreams about killing or crushing cats. Her brother made a request of Alriyel to banish her nightmares, but because she thought she deserved to suffer, there wasn’t much he could do. As she slowly stopped believing that as much though, (with the help of Kaze,) her nightmares faded. Now she doesn’t really dream at all.
Pangur: Doesn’t usually remember his dreams when he wakes up. He rarely has nightmares, and he hasn’t had any for a very long time. Sometimes he has trouble sleeping, if he’s really thinking hard about something, or if he’s got something on his mind right before going to sleep, and when that happens he usually... wakes up Rose and bothers her. Sometimes she’ll humor him a little until he goes back to sleep, if it’s not the middle of the night or if she’s not asleep yet. If he really can’t sleep and Rose is too crabby about being woken up, he’ll wander out of the den (so he doesn’t disturb her) and go work on some crafting project until he’s tired enough to sleep.
Irastus: Has weird dreams, probably. Not WEIRD weird, but weird in the sense that dreams are sometimes weird and nonsensical. Sometimes he remembers them when he wakes up, and sort of automatically starts to turn to Rook to be like ‘oh man, let me tell you about this dream I had-’, out of habit (that’s what he used to do, when they traveled together) before realizing that Rook isn’t there. Occasionally he’ll wander into LT (or FT) just to tell Rook (or Odessa) about the weird dream he had, if it’s especially vivid or hilarious.
Matteus: Probably dreams about whatever cats dream about? Hunting mice or whatever. Doesn’t usually remember upon waking, and if he does, usually doesn’t care enough to keep dwelling on it.
Thea: Frequently had trouble sleeping back in her old life, increasingly so as time went on. After she left, she had a little trouble adjusting to sleeping alone and outdoors, but slept much better after meeting Tyler. Moving to ST was hard, especially because she couldn’t get herself to sleep in the dens, but she’s slooowly gotten used to it. She doesn’t really dream anything unusual. Just normal dreams (by human standards), but she’ll occasionally have nightmares about suffocating in a rockfall, or having the tunnels closing in on her, or more vague dreams about everyone around her turning on her with disgust.
15. Can they multi-task or must they focus on one subject at a time?
Shibui: Solidly pretty decent at multitasking. Bad at talking while she’s multitasking, though.
Pangur: Really bad at multitasking. His limit is like, talking and working. He’s very good at talking while he’s using his paws, but if he has to concentrate, he either stops working or trails off.
Irastus: He can do like 7 things at once and still not pay attention to any of them. It’s ridiculous.
Matteus: Good at multitasking, since he is good at ignoring anyone who tries to distract him while he is multitasking.
Thea: Bad at multitasking, especially if she’s talking while doing something. She usually breaks off whatever she’s doing and gets really into the conversation/gesticulating wildly.
20. If your character was allowed to murder one person without any consequences, who would that person be and why?
Shibui: Assuming no consequences’ includes no emotional consequences, it’s a tie between Arcis and Sylvani. Sylvani would be the definite one, except Shi also wants to make her suffer, and death seems too easy. She doesn’t deserve an easy way out.
Pangur: NOBODY. NOBODY EVER. Oh my god, how could you even suggest that?!
Irastus: Probably Pepper. Only if she ever showed up in his life, though. He doesn’t feel especially murderous towards her as long as she stays the hell away and he doesn’t have to think about her.
Matteus: Doesn’t really hate anyone enough to care about murdering them. Or, the ones he does/did are already dead.
Thea: Her past self? Probably.
23. Do they prefer romance or affection? What is the quickest way to your character’s heart?
Shibui: If you are nice to her and compliment her, you are well on your way already. She’s a sucker for romance. She also has trouble handling or figuring out what the heck to do with ‘affection’, so that throws her off pretty quick. (Currently tho her heart belongs to Kaze.)
Pangur: Affection, affection, affection all the time. Affection is part of romance anyway, right? Pangur just loves anyone. You’d be hard pressed to find someone he doesn’t immediately like.
Irastus: Neither. Romance freaks him the hell out, and his standards of affection are...... weird. ‘Affection’ for him is like, harassing Rook. Or bringing him dead things. Not even prey, just ‘look at this cool dead lizard i found!! haha, omg you came make it move if you poke it just right, that’s so fuckin gross’
Matteus: Affection. He’s a grumpy tsundere, but he secretly is stupidly affectionate once you get him to open up. Probably the quickest way to get to him is... to just be yourself. He likes cats who are very genuine, especially if they’re not conscious of themselves. He also has a weird soft spot for trouble youngsters, even if he is bad at dealing with them.
Thea: The surest way to turn her off is to act romantic towards her. Much like Irastus, she will drop you like a hot potato. Unlike Irastus though, she will feel bad about it, and be very upset about it, and wish that it had never happened. She just wants to have a normal life with no more dating.
26. How does your character prepare for bed? Do they sleep at all or can they stay awake for days on end without trouble?
Shibui: She sleeps when she gets tired, which is usually around the middle of the night, or whenever she finds a suitable place to bed down. Sometimes she doesn’t really want to go to sleep though, so she just stays up. Not really insomnia, but she just... doesn’t feel like it. She doesn’t like the process of lying down to try and go to sleep, and sometimes she’d just rather not bother.
Pangur: Sleeps pretty normally for a tribe cat. He goes to bed relatively early, and sometimes he likes to bring a project into his and Rose’s nest to work on until he gets sleepy. He wakes up early in the morning, a little after sunrise, and starts his day. He tends to nap in the afternoons, or at least veg out for a while.
Irastus: Has a weird sleep schedule. Which is to say, no schedule at all. He sleeps when he is tired, and wakes up when he is done sleeping. Somehow though, it’s hard to catch him actually sleeping.
Matteus: Still struggling to switch from his natural nocturnal schedule to the tribe’s unnatural diurnal one. He still sleeps a regular 12-16 hours, but tends to nap a lot during the day, wake up late, and go to bed late. (It’s easier for him to go to bed earlier now that he’s in a tribe though, because there’s no one else awake that late.) He usually goes to bed when Evaline does, but stays awake for a while.
Thea: Also has a pretty normal sleep pattern. She usually waits for everyone to head in for the night before she goes to bed though, to avoid anyone asking questions, and she tries to wake up early for the same reason. If she didn’t sleep well the night before, she’ll go find somewhere out in the territory to nap.
this took so long and i am dead now.
