A Troubled Reunion |¿| Closed
Gotham. A city that was always more lively in the witching hours, but for all the wrong reasons. A metropolis of opportunity, if you were brave enough to handle its more “colourful” residents.
Six whole months since he had last set foot here.
He wished he could give a positive explanation for why he had steered clear of the vicinity for so long, but the truth was far from so. Needless to say it wasn’t for his own benefit - that was something that seldom, if ever, crossed his mind - but the fact of the matter was he had caused someone to fall into grave danger. That particular someone was a person whom he held dearly close to his heart, and he would rather die than allow them to suffer harm.
His alter, on the other hand, had very different feelings.
The prospect of the former bonding with another had proven to be too much for the latter to handle, so much so that on more than one occasion he had taken matters into his own hands. Luckily he had been stopped before too much damage had been dealt, but that didn’t erase the fact that things had become chaotic.
For Edward Nigma, the only way he could solve the chaotic situation was to flee Gotham as quickly and as quietly as he could, vowing never to return until he had sorted his other-self out properly.
As a result he quickly became a missing person within the city. He had vanished without a trace, and as time went on concerns for his safety began to grow. His office at the GCPD headquarters had been undisturbed. His car was still parked outside his house, both of which showed no signs of a break-in. No-one had seen him for months, and as far as anyone knew, no-one had any reason to do him harm.
Well, except The Riddler.
Given his mental state the general consensus of his fate soon became suicide - a man with a troubled mind, desperate to make peace with himself. However his close friends knew that Edward was stronger than that. Privately-funded appeals soon reached states all over the country, and it wasn’t long before Edward himself became aware of the situation. Determined to fix things himself, he finally made the ultimate decision to return, promising to call on one particular individual as soon as he arrived. Whether or not she would be happy to see him was a question he was anxious to find the answer to.
