This is something i have thought about and have been really feeling lately and thought i would share.
1)STOP TREATING PPL WITH ADHD (and any of nd person) LIKE SHIT BECAUSR THEY THINK AND ACT DIFFERENTLY.
Just accept it. We don't have to conform because it makes you uncomfortable.
I'm just so frustrated and sad when I think about it as it is so apparent how damaging it has been in my own life.
I was laid off due to covid purely for budgetary reasons in NOV. I still haven't found a job (which everyone is struggling with).
But for me what sinks the most is that I FEEL like I won't succeed at any job I look at. I FEEL i am not qualifed or have too much anxiety over it.
Ever since i graduated college i feel like i keep running into glass walls that have been holding me back.
Because these glass walls are the reminders and constant feedback and comments from my 25 some odd years of schooling ( i have two degrees and added in prek).
It takes me DAYS to write a cover letter because for years I was told my writing was not good enough, my grammar was not strong enough. So I have to rely on other ppl tp edit my work. But then my voice is rewritten and reformatted. I struggle to be independent because of I have been told so many times that it is not good enough . but at the same time I am told to trust myself more and just get it out there.
I see so many amazing, wonderful,hard-working, talented, and well deserving people doing the things i could do but the difference is that they were never told for 25 years that they can't. So they are actually doing it and I am running into glass walls. Because even the limited mentors and positive influences in my life have been conditional on me presenting or masking as normal. ***
When you have to mask, you question your own validity. When you have to mask, you question your own worth and question your owm judgement.
So yeah if you are an adhd or nd person feeling like shit or like you are not good enough. You might not be the same as others. But that doesn't mean you aren't just as good.
*** this is not to say that they haven't had their own issues and struggles and nay sayers. But. They have found a way to overcome or compensate for it in a way that i haven't yet lol.
