❝ Don't scream ❞

"I suppose I should thank you for saving me, even if it means playing nurse now." - @the-arkham-librarian
He was tempted to point out that she was just lucky he had been walking by but decided to keep his mouth shut. Probably for the better, no one ever did take well to knowing he didn’t really need to get himself involved.
“Think yer more lucky th’ goons of the night got spooked pretty easily.” And that he had a few bandages. Not... as intentional precaution, but it sounded a lot better than the real reason. No one also ever took kindly to hearing about blood orgy dates before a stop to the nearest McDonalds. “Or spooked at all—aye, that’ll do it.”
He hummed over his handiwork, though he added one more bandaid over her hand for good measure. “Rather not let ‘em go to waste, be terribly unlucky for you.”

Was sneaking into the library a good idea? Perhaps not, but he'd already finished the other books he'd gotten a few days ago. As usual, no rats accompanied him here as he crept among the shelves. There was no one to warn him when a hand grabbed the back of his neck. It sent an unpleasant shock down his spine as the fingers lined up with the bite scars on his neck; it might not have been that bad if not for the drugs overrunning his system, but all he could feel were teeth.
"Don't–" he whimpered, his frame rigid as if he'd been frozen in place, not even trying to see who had grabbed him. "Let me go and I'll go back to my cell, I promise–"

Their alarm is ringing but he could hardly care, curled up under the sheets with Eliza the sun shining down on them through the blinds made him feel something akin to bliss, in this moment he couldn't remember why they hadn't moved in together sooner, it was as if all his problems disappeared.
❝ Hey ❞ He whispered softly against her forehead. ❝ You're going to be late to work ❞
@the-arkham-librarian asked: "Here, I made some carrot cake. Carrots are from my own garden."
the springs of the asylum cot creaked underneath his weight as he lifted himself up on one elbow. in the slot that usually came plastic trays of questionable meatloaf and colorless vegetables, was a styrofoam plate. he rolled off his cot and took a quick few steps to grab it from the librarian. as if she might snatch it back if he wasn’t fast enough. the dinners sometimes came with some poor excuse for a dessert; typically flavorless and unpleasantly dry. this was the single most delicious looking food he’d seen since getting readmitted. he gave her a skeptical look through the glass of the door. “What’s your angle here, lady?” he questioned. no fork was given with the cake; slightly disappointing but he wasn’t surprised. handing over anything vaguely sharp, even just a plastic spork, to the joker was certainly end in bloodshed. but jay wasn’t very refined anyway! he had no issues ripping a piece of his slice with his bare fingers and popping it into his mouth. “You wanting to be Harley Number Two or something? Cause uh, you’re already a way better cook than she ever was!” HAHA! joker smiled wide, looking ever pleased, before taking another bite.
Lunch break. Herbert had just finished washing his hands when the door to his office opened. "If it can wait, I'd appreciate it if you would come back later," he replied shortly before he looked up.
Oh. Huh. His eyebrows briefly raised.
"You are not one of the patients." Obviously. "Have we been introduced?"
