Please keep in mind that COVID-19 has severely impacted these productions. Strongest Challengers canceled pretty much their entire tour, and the Trash Heap had to work with seating cut in half and canceled shows due to covid exposures. As much as we would prefer that the cast and crew can stay safe and simply not perform, there is no government aid for them and so they are taking the risk and performing anyway.

One of the reasons these streams are made available now is to make a small attempt to recoup financial losses. Please do not pirate this production, please do not encourage piracy of this show or any of their shows, please purchase and support the cast and crew if you can, especially during this pandemic.

EVENT DESCRIPTION

In the year 2220, the world has been robbed of stage and theatre. In a world without theatre, people's hearts have withered, are blocked and the scenery has turned to ash. To save such a world, the nation created a secret project "Save the Stage". To save the world once again through stage and theatre, 7 actor androids were created from materials from 200 years ago. However, a problem arose. There is a fake android that was created by an international crime organisation This android has been mixed in with the 7. It is a problem the nation needs to deal with A test of the backgrounds, lifestyles and acting ability of the 7 actors has been implemented To separate the fake actor from the rest. With this, the selection of the 7 actors begins―. "This is a werewolf game with the lives of the actors on the line."

THEATER COMPLEX

Since today the website solely dedicated to 2.5D streams is up and ready to be accessed! Yay... or Nay?

If you live in Japan, it’s probably a yay! Even at the start they do have a decent selection of shows available (I think). And for only 700 yen per month, you get unrestricted access to the archived shows. If you don’t want to commit to a monthly fee, one-time purchases are possible too. A subscription to the website unfortunately doesn’t get you access to any live streams. Those will be charged separately. Only downside, it’s stream only. You can’t get any downloads.

If you live overseas, it’s probably a Nay. As I feared, the website is Japan only! >_< The FAQ indicates access to the website may be blocked or restricted even when you use a VPN. At first glance though, nothing seems blocked. Signing up requires you to select a Japanese prefecture, but that’s all. You can browse the library, add favorites and even get to enter you payment details to rent a stream. Though I’m not sure if they accept foreign card, because that’s as far as I went. (I never added my credit card details) I’m slightly tempted to enter my payment details and see how much access the site allows paying foreigners without a VPN... I mean, if they allow me to pay using a foreign IP, they can’t very well start blocking me after they got my money, right? And if they block me before I pay, I wonder if the usual ways are enough to get around the region block.

But yeah... so far Theater Complex isn’t going to be the savior of the International Community it appears.

I'll give you an explanation about the Theater Complex project Mario tweeted about.

It was created by Matsuda Makoto who is the producer of musical Touken Ranbu and many other works. He launched the project in order to help actors in this awful situation they ended up in due to the COVID-19 outbreak.

In this project they'll provide video destribution of already existing stage plays, live distribution of upcoming stage plays and original program deliveries. It'll be supperted via crowdfounding what will start on May 1st.

In order to participate in the project, you'll have to create an account (it's free). You can sign up with your Facebook and Twitter accounts, but it's also possible to sign up with email address. Please check the photos in this post for a guidiance about the signing up with email address.
