We* here at the Heather Haney Awards have remained silent on the debate surrounding a potential restructuring of the OTHER HHAs, the Helen Hayes Awards. Truly, we* felt that there was a potential conflict of interest, as we* are a competitor - a fellow awards-giving and initial-bearing institution. We* certainly followed the debate, but really were unable to participate in the discussion for fear of angry mobs crying "conflict of interest!" and "Vive la France!"
No one wants to end up like this guy.
Last night, however, theatrewashington unveiled its new Helen Hayes Awards platform and all we* can say here at the Heather Haney Awards is:
theatrewashington has been involving the DC theatre community on this project for years now and the awards, while not perfect, reflect an on-going conversation with the theatre community.
You think those Swedes ask the scientific and peace-loving communities about their Nobel Prize award structure?**
Well, theatrewashington DID and I think they will continue to be an organization that works with our community. For that, they get a Haney!
Congratulations, theatrewashington - you just won the Good on Ya Award!
*I may or may not be using the Royal We.
**They may do that. I'm not really sure.
