NSA Conference 2016!
We started a 2 week long get in for the NSA Conference on Tuesday 23rd February. The first event that we rigged for was the Civic Awards but we have to use the same rig for the Conference.
The first job of the day was to put together 4x lengths of 18M truss. We had guidelines of where the truss would be placed (LX1, LX2, LX3 & DRAPES).
After assembling the truss, we then moved on to building the projection screen. The truss took most part of the day. Once the truss was put together myself and Sam Todd had the task of prepping the truss for flying with Spansets & Shackles. Unfortunately the dance core team had to go off for a meeting and sort everything out so I was not able to help finish off.
Something was in the space on the Wednesday so we then moved onto the Thursday. This was the best day!!!!! Myself & Glenn headed up the Sound Department for this year & I was privileged to be working with Glenn.
This year we had Halo Line Array from WL and I remembered assembling it from last year so I remembered how to do it. There were two girls from Peterborough college who assisted us and they read out the angles. Once all was assembled with 8x Boxes of Halo a side I took control of hoisting the array up in the air. Then we moved onto setting up the console and Dante! As I had training in the Yamaha consoles I took up the task of setting up the console from setting up Dante to patching & working the oscillator.
I must admit it was a really fun day for me as I love line array’s!!
On Monday 29th February, get in part 3 begin and we started with the turn around from the awards into the conference - to start we had to de-rig the projectio screen and star cloths and creating a ‘light wall’ on the back wall with the scaff bars.
I was then put on the Wednesday Awards evening and I wanted to do followspot along with Sam Todd & Lawrence Dennell. It was the first time that I had ever done follow spot and I was really fascinated at how easy is.
