I really love to make things with my hands. I like to build things like shelves and things from ikea or just straight up build something from nothing. I like to DiY things and get my hands covered in paint or get really into hand lettering to the point where I use random brushes and paint/ink. It's weird because when I'm doing things like that I don't care if I get my hands dirty but if my hands get dirty without a purpose, I hate it.
I like to do things myself. I don't like asking for help the majority of the time and I like to prove people wrong. My dad always use to do things or say he would and never do it so I started to pick up how to fix things and do the typical "manly" things. I think it's just I like to prove that I, a girl, can do it. This weekend when I was camping, we were tying up the tarps and in order to do that we had to get the rope over high, sturdy branches. So, I found a good log, tied the rope to one end and was preparing to throw it when one of my guy friends chimed in saying, "here I'll do it" and when I said I had it he kinda shrugged and cocked his eyebrow BUT that fuelled me to do it even more and I got it so HA.
I cannot do any kind of work in silence but I also cannot have music playing with words. This is where my love for movie scores has come from. My go to is the score from The Hobbit by Howard Shore. I was working on a group project once in college and we were all sitting in this meeting room plugging away at our separate parts and mine was to write. The only problem was is that every single person was talking about random things and it just got to me. It makes my spine tense up and drives me crazy. So I threw my headphones on and started listening to The Hobbit and it just all went away and I went straight to work and got a lot done. They could hear it and made fun of me for it but hey I got my shit done.
I've always wanted to pursue a career in music but I'm afraid people would make fun of me for it. I've alway been so interested in broadway and almost went to school for it when I was younger but who knows. Another factor that keeps me down is that, if I was to somehow make it big, I wouldn't fit into the industries standard when it comes to appearance and I don't think I could handle that.
If I could do one thing, one time and have it be fucking awesome, I would want to be in a horror movie. I think that would be the best thing in the world. I love horror movies and they look like a blast to make and that's just been a weird dream of mine since I was a kid. So that's a thing.
