This lace shawl, which appeared in the 1940 film 𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝑳𝒆𝒕𝒕𝒆𝒓 is far more than just a beautiful piece of clothing. Its appearance serves to symbolize Bette Davis’ character Leslie Crosbie’s habit of weaving a web of lies while feigning innocence.   The piece was reused in the 1946 film 𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝑩𝒆𝒂𝒔𝒕 𝒘𝒊𝒕𝒉 𝑭𝒊𝒗𝒆 𝑭𝒊𝒏𝒈𝒆𝒓𝒔, where it was worn by Andrea King as Julie Holden.   Who was he costume designer? The first four horror movies I remember seeing? This was harder than I thought. In regard to my first panel I grew up with the Universal Monsters. Pretty sure it was either Drac or Frankie I saw first, but they all get equal billing as they were my first introduction to Horror.
