I’m Theo, formerly known as Thecchi, or more commonly, Dino.
If you were wondering why I deactivated, a big part of it was because of people who hid behind the anonymous button in my inbox, insisting that AI writes for me. The truth is, I only use AI as help to refine my works. AI was created to assist people in developing their skills, not to take credit for their work. It’s honestly disheartening to see how easily writers who genuinely dedicate time and effort to their craft get dismissed.
But that wasn’t the only reason I stepped away. I had school to focus on, and as much as I hate to admit it, writing can be very distracting. Not just from being a student, but also from being an athlete. On top of that, there was my personal life. Eventually, I had to accept that I couldn’t balance everything all at once.
I told myself I’d take a step back— come back when I have free time again, come back renewed. But writing has always been a part of me, and I couldn’t fully let it go. So I made this account.
Still, that wasn’t everything.
During that time away, I found myself working on another project—a website made for us, and only for us, eyekons, called Katzblr (credits to my moots in the DC server, I love you all).
Due to recent incidents, many authors in eyekonblr have been deactivating after receiving hate from people who hide behind the anonymous button. Watching writers get driven away from a space that’s supposed to be creative and supportive was honestly heartbreaking, and it made me realize how unsafe things have started to feel for a lot of us.
That’s where the idea for Katzblr came from. I wanted to create a space that feels safe, intentional, and respectful— a place where writers and readers don’t have to constantly defend themselves just for existing or creating. Katzblr is meant for people who know how to respect others, and because of that, any form of hate, harassment, or discrimination will not be tolerated.
Which is why the first and foremost idea I have thought of is that the Katzblr website will be an invite-only, because it’s meant for people who know how to respect others.
At its core, Katzblr is a Tumblr-inspired platform with a few thoughtful twists:
There are two main account types: Readers and Writers.
Each has its own layout and features, kind of like choosing a role in a video game. Profiles and dashboards can be personalized depending on whether you mainly read or write. Users can also create sub-blogs, which can be customized as well.
Anonymous asks will be available, allowing people to ask questions or leave messages while still respecting community guidelines.
Main Pages (Tumblr-inspired)
The site has four main sections:
Authors Page – A space to discover and support writers on Katzblr.
For You – A personalized feed with posts, works, and updates.
Following – Posts from people you follow.
Your Tags – A feed made up of the tags you choose to follow.
Interactions & Features
Users can like, reblog, comment, and subscribe to works.
One-shots do not include a subscribe option.
Series include a subscribe button so readers can follow updates.
Writing & Formatting
Writers can choose how their fic is presented:
One-shots appear as regular Tumblr-style posts.
Series use a more structured format inspired by AO3, making chapters easy to browse.
To keep things organized, written works and announcements are separated, so readers can easily find stories without digging.
Blog Layouts
Writer Blogs include:
Home – Announcements, asks, and reblogs.
Works – A dedicated space for all published fics.
Following & Likes – Posts you’ve liked or followed (automatically hidden from public view).
Reader Blogs include:
Home – Reblogs, posts, rants, and general content.
Subscriptions – Works you’re currently following.
Following & Likes – Likes and follows (also hidden from public view).
Navigation & Messaging
The site features four main icons:
Home – Access For You, Authors, Following, and Your Tags.
Profile – View your blog.
TV – Watch videos or short-form content.
Envelope – Messages and asks.
Messaging supports both private chats and group chats, making it easy to connect, collaborate, and build community.
I do want to be clear, though— Katzblr is still in its conceptualizing stage. It hasn’t been built yet, and it’s very much a work in progress. Right now, it’s just an idea that I really believe in and want to push through.
This is where I’d love some support. Whether that means people who are interested, willing to share ideas, give suggestions, or even just listen and hype it up a little— it would mean a lot. Katzblr isn’t something I want to build alone or in silence. I want it to grow with the community it’s meant for.
There’s still a lot to figure out: features, layout, moderation, accessibility, and all the small details that make a space feel safe and welcoming (Of course my biggest problem would be coding it but that's another story). I’m very open to feedback and suggestions, especially from people who understand what it’s like to be writers and readers in online spaces.
For now, this is me putting the idea out there. No promises, no pressure— just an invitation. If Katzblr sounds like something you’d want to be part of someday, I’d love to hear from you :))
