I went to RBC early this morning to get my new ATM card which had expired. After confirming my identity and completing the required documentation the Customer Service Representative said “Miss Chase can I offer you any financial assistance?” I said “No thank you!” She continued: “Can’t I offer you a car loan?” I said, “ I own my car and it works just fine. I will drive it until it shackles out.” She started to laugh but continued, “I notice you don’t have a credit card with us.” to which I replied, “With your high interest rates? No please! Are you trying to put me in debt? My Visa-Debit is all I need.” Then she hit me with, “How about a home equity loan or refinancing your mortgage?” At this point I’m admiring her tenacity and replied, “no thanks! I’m from the old school I like to take my time and fix things around my house without the burden of debt!” She said, “Well Miss Chase it seems like you are all set and need nothing from us!” I said, “In that you would be wrong. Does RBC offers any investment opportunities?” She said, “Unfortunately we don’t” so I chuckled and said, “Mam, the same way you offer all these loans which cause a person to accumulate debt this institution needs to present viable savings or investment options to clients!” She smiled and wished me a wonderful day. Of course I thanked her for her service and wished her the same. Sharing this so hopefully people can read between the lines - wherever you can avoid placing yourself in debt! Wherever you can set aside some money for a nest egg. Work towards financial freedom! Have an awesome day! #TheChaseFiles https://www.instagram.com/p/CpnOte4gFPV1EanKvz0TVa2CiDqYpjqD4vYWGs0/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=
