Okay, so after reblogging that last post.. I'm seriously so sad. I only know one Muslim personally, and I don't even know her personally. Just from here on Tumblr. It breaks my fucking heart and infuriates me at the same time that she could easily be labeled as a terrorist if she happened to be near a crime and was wearing her hijab; that people might look at her differently now after Boston, since the media is blaming those who were hijabs. That freaks me the fuck out, because she's honestly one of the most intelligent, kind, beautiful, diverse, driven, honest, silly, wonderful people I've ever had the pleasure of knowing.

It makes me disappointed in myself that I can honestly say I use to be weary of Muslims that I encountered throughout my life. I don't want to blame the media and my parents, but they made it so easy to think that way and to think a piece of clothing over someone's head automatically makes them 'scary'. They are people just like you and I. Why is that so hard to understand when you're not familiar? Why did it take personally talking to someone of Islam for me to actually research anything and find out what their religion actually is about?

Elle, I am so sorry. I'm sorry you have to see and read so much bullshit about your way life because of ignorant people like I once was. I'm sorry you have to put up with so much stupidity. Most of all, I'm sorry I didn't know you before, and could've helped stop a lot of wrong saying & doing going on around me.
