What Is Semantic HTML? The Benefits of Semantic HTML Code by Grant Darling (thecodebytes)
In lecture 2, 3 and 4 we looked at HTML. I attended all of the lectures and since then I have re-read the lecture notes, I’ve looked through the material available on Moodle and then I have done my own research online as well in relation to HTML, HTML5 and Semantic HTML.
I thought that this was a really interesting article. I wasn't quite sure what semantic HTML actually was before this and the div, span, id's and classes used to confuse me a lot so seeing that HTML5 emphasises semantic code that is easier to understand and read is great I think.
I also thought the piece about screen reading was informative and eye-opening as I had never thought about websites needing assistive technology to convert information on a website to speech or braille.
In addition to this, knowing that using semantic HTML code improves SEO for your website or websites that you build is definitely worth knowing if you want to get more traction on a site.
The macro and micro structures was mentioned in class and this article has helped me to understand that better too. Furthermore, the code tag is a great tag to learn about, I feel like this will make styling pages a lot easier.
As well as this, I also liked the 'Wrapping Up' conclusion, a nice play on words in relation to what the content was about. A great read. Cheers, Gavin.

Below is a gif of an album cover called ‘Currents’ by Tame Impala! The guy that made this has a Tumblr Blog where he states that he makes gif videos with code! I just thought it was interesting to include this as I am learning a number of client side and server side coding and programming languages in my MSc!
This coder uses OpenGL Shading Language (GLSL) which is a high-level shading language with a syntax based on the C programming language.

A link to one of the songs from this album. If you listen to the music this animation reflects the currents of the album really well:
