A tip for Ao3 authors

Write your author's note before hand, possibly after you've finished writing your fic, not the minute you want to post your fic or chapter. That way, you can sound more intentional than scrambled and have a lesser chance of forgetting or not knowing what to say, such as easter eggs, foreshadowing or sharing a link/image.

How to Add Links and Images to Your A/Ns

Ao3 is not an image-hosting website so the image has to be somewhere if you want it to show. I usually use tumblr for this, since I mostly share my mood boards and graphics here but you can use any image-hosting website like imgur, google photos or the internet archive.

This is the HTML for adding the images:

<img src="(insert direct image link here)">

For links, this is the code:

<a href="(put your link here)">(this is where you put what you link should say).</a>

The brackets are not part of the code

im trying to get my portfolio gallery do do the same thing tumblr does with images: when you click, they are enlarged and centered with a dimmed background until you click off.

so far I have:

Which does Some of that ! But im obviously missing something.

it doesnt enlarge the image, it just moves the already-compact image to the center. i thought adding max-width would do something but it didnt. i think .gallery img {...} is overriding img {...} in this instance.
