31 did not bring some calm. It was bombastic. The highest of highs, and the longest of lows -a sustained period of stasis with shifting goalposts of change. Everything, Everywhere, All At Once, as the film title so neatly put it. My first commissioned play was produced! George and I got married big-time-style this time --twice in two different countries! I promptly caught COVID the day after our London wedding, or rather it finally caught up with me. We bought a flat! We're getting it renovated! Still! It took several months to even figure out where to begin and the work got booked in to start literally the DAY George left to sea. He's not back yet, and I think this could be my first birthday without him since we've met. On the one hand, I feel as though I'm emerging from a kind of purgatory, but on the other hand, there are so many amazing things to celebrate, and I want to celebrate the good. To the cast and crew of #TheCollab, thank you for making this show come out all guns blazing. I'm honestly blown away by each and every one of you, and I'm honoured to have shared my wedding weekend with the opening weekend of this play. Wouldn't have wanted it any other way. The flat that @gllcw and I share will be ready to move into any day now, and it's already looking 500x better than when we bought it. I want this to be not just a cosy nook for us, but a place where we can enjoy the company of friends, and make memories with family. Speaking of, I became an aunt again twice in the past month! I want our home to be one of their favourite places to go. I've also taken a few brave chances creatively over the past year. Let's see if they pan out. I feel like I'm getting good at taking chances because, as this year has shown, I have been so, so incredibly lucky. But please 32, can we throw some stability in the mix this time? 😅 . . . . . #birthday #birthdaywishes #yearinreview #happybirthdaytome #playwright #writer https://www.instagram.com/p/CnVac1Wj-O1/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=
