Hello, TheCoolMomma here. I'm a new follower because Sami said I should, so I did. :) I will admit I don't read most of your ficlets, but I've read a few and I like them. I don't know if you'll do this (because it's not Ten/too/Rose), but I'd like to see Eleven meet up with Donna, maybe help her out with something 'mundane and human-y' and maybe it doesn't go so well so he winds up visiting Jack for a heart-to-heart/pep-talk. Yeah, I like it. I hope you do too!
(Why hi there! :D Welcome to the family! Or clan, or army, or hoard, or padded cell, or...)
When it came to Donna Noble, the Doctor would always label her as one of his biggest regrets.
Even before he regenerated he hung out on the fringes of her life, making sure she was safe, happy, loved. It was the least he could do. The winning lottery ticket went a long way to making sure the first was met, but the second two were a different story.
After losing Amy and Rory, he found himself once more watching her. He wasn't worried about her spotting him, since this form wasn't the one to travel with her, but he wanted to be safe rather than sorry. She and Shawn were at the park with their daughter, and he followed her as she left her family to jog down the street. He was about to leave when she suddenly stopped, and patted her pockets before grumbling to herself. "Bloody pockets," she muttered as she passed him. "Never big enough to hold anything, this is the third time my wallet has fallen out this month..."
"You lost your wallet?" He blurted out before he could help himself.
Donna stared at him, and he floundered before thrusting his psychic paper at her. "Here, why don't you borrow my credit card? That way you can still, er, buy groceries as you, er... cancel your... card?" The look she was giving him was not a good sign.
"And what, run the risk of you not having money?" She snapped. "I don't need charity, mister. And what are you, eavesdropping?"
Donna eventually found her wallet back at the park, and the Doctor left only when she went back to the store with a satisfied smile on her face. He sighed and walked back to the TARDIS. He couldn't do anything right lately.
An uncomfortable prickling sensation started under his skin, and he looked up to see Jack leaning against the TARDIS. "Thought you said you couldn't talk to her," the man said, coolly.
"She doesn't recognize this me," the Doctor defended. "And I can't spend an extended time with her. There's a difference."
Jack shrugged. "Didn't say there was anything wrong with it." He looked at the Doctor shrewdly. "You don't look so good, Doc."
"Tell me something I don't know," he replied, darkly. "I destroy everything I touch, Jack. I should leave now before Donna's life here is ruined."
The immortal pushed himself off the TARDIS and placed a hand on his shoulder. "Wanna talk about it?"
The Doctor considered, then sighed. "Why not? We can exchange war stories and see who's the bigger monster."
"About the 456?" At Jack's look the Doctor nodded. "I found about it too late. I'm sorry, Jack. If I had known..." he trailed off and shook his head. "I hope you like Earl Grey. That's the only thing I have left."
"I'm not picky," Jack said evenly, and closed the door behind them.
