Sigolène: Mm-hmm?

Bethany: Sorry to interrupt. Agent Dryer is outside and apparently needs to speak to you.  She’s insisting.

Sigolène: Well then, if she’s insisting, show her in.

Bethany: Yes, Ma’am.

Agent Dryer: Madam First Lady.

Sigolène: You can relax Agent Dryer, I’m not your Commander-in-chief. Beth said you have something you want to discuss?

Agent: Yes Ma’am. As you may know, it’s secret service protocol to review any security camera footage after an event where a member of the first family is present.

Agent: With the footage from the Oskar ceremony, we found something - something that I should be reporting directly to my superior.

Sigolène: And as I’m not your superior officer, I assume there is a reason why you are speaking with me?

Sigolène: Thank you agent and thank you for coming to me first. This is a family matter. You understand that this must be kept private?

Sigolène: The last thing Fred needs is to have his privacy violated further. I’ll handle this - there is no need to involve the West Wing.

Fred: Mom? What are you doing here?

Sigolène: Oh, just these really. I was passing and saw them. So many memories on this wall. Look how little Teddy was… and how handsome you are. And those Paulis got their mother’s good looks…

Fred: I guess so. Look mom, I don’t know what is happening to you right now, but I gotta get going. Drake is having some of the boys up to his family’s summer cottage - one last hurrah before the wedding.

Fred: I love you mom.

Sigolène: I love you. So very much

Tittle-Tattle: The latest news from the Simerican first family.

Hello lovelies! It’s your girl [redacted] bringing you more celebrity news and more importantly all the goss! This time we are focusing on my most favourite of first families - The Cronins... well, to be precise, three of its members and it has been a busy weekend for the democratic dynasty.

Starting off with the absolute hottie that is Fred; he was spotted out and about in Riverview. For those of you not in the know, Riverview is located on the Sim City peninsula of Long Island. Although a quaint town, it is home to some of the wealthiest, most powerful and celebrated sims around! The reason for this visit to the peninsula: Ollie Drake, Fred’s stinking rich best friend and soon-to-be husband of global superstar, Camila Pauli. It is rumoured that Drake invited his groomsmen down to his family’s “summer cottage” for one last big spring blowout before the big day. All I can say is that ain’t no cottage in my book, it has crenelations for Watcher’s sake! Ah... to be rich! 

Next up, we have Simerica’s Queen herself, First Lady Sigolène Cronin. She made an appearance in the town of Newcrest at Gertz Diner, and can I just saw HOW CHIC! That pant suit is tailored to perfection! Well, that’s what you expect when you spend §8000 on a single outfit! This trip was to show the administration’s appreciation for diner owner Gertrude Lee, who offers free meals for those who are struggling through the current economic crisis - all I can say is maybe the First Lady shouldn’t have worn Simmy Choos to serve soup to those in need! A rare misstep, even if a stylish one!! On the menu today: broth! Far from the first lady’s preferred soup (we hear it’s a humble lobster bisque).

Finally we leave Simerica and travel across the great Simlantic Ocean to the Grand Duchy of Felsenbourg. We now know, my lovelies, that Felsenbourg is synonymous with Madelène Cronin, and boy she was a whirlwind tearing through the Duchy! I can happily say when I grow up I want to be Madelène! And I’m 10 years older than her - eek! The First Daughter was spotted at the International Polo Championship, a must on any potential princess’s social calendar. The event is attended by the crème de la crème of the Simtinent and hosted at the Grand Duke’s personal showground. Madelène wore a STUNNING black and white dress during the Simerican v Felsenbourg match, I mean come on, I almost died! *swoons*. The First daughter was joined by her uncle Ambassador Patrick Cronin, her aunt Cherie and her cousins Alexander and Abigail. Later that afternoon Cronin was spotted intimately chatting with his Serene Highness Felix Von Acker and was later joined by his sisters their Serene Highnesses Princesses Amelie and Henrietta. Note to self - ask Father Winter to make me a Princess this Winterfest!!

What do you make of all these beautiful and fashionable Cronins stepping out with billionaires’ sons, in high fashion and mingling with royalty - and all during a cost of living crisis for Simericans up and down the country... oh! And where is the President?! I know he has a campaign to prepare for, but surely he needs to get out and about to see the people?!

An unforgettable 87th Oskars

Hosts singer Dame Gu Gu and actor Tomas Drift opened the 87th Simcademy Awards with a charming skit referencing Dame Gu Gu’s childhood on a soy farm. Action man Drift descended onto the stage, proving to everyone that - yes - he really does do his own stunts! Traditionally taking inspiration from the year’s biggest and most notable films, the skit left the crowd initially confused, but then in awe of two titans at the top of their respective fields.

On with the evening...

To no one’s surprise, Camila Pauli picked up her 5th award of the season (Best Actress) for her role in the Selvadoradan musical drama that has taken the world by storm, Recuérdame, Selvadorada. In her speech she thanked the Watcher, her fans, her adoring father, director Bobby Bilbao and her singing coach Terèse Florèse, before she rounded off her acceptance speech with an 8-minute monologue from the film.

Having journeyed all the way from the Simtinent, Their Royal Highnesses the Crown Prince Germán and Crown Princess Barbie of Uspana accepted the award for Best International Feature Film for the magical realist tale, Where the Moon Rabbits Dance. Tragically, director Raimon Totjorn was unable to attend the ceremony following a skiing accident during a visit to the Felsenbourger resort of Hochhut. Too much Glühwein during the après-ski? Their Royal Highnesses spoke of their joy that part of their nation’s history would be known across the world thanks to this enchanting film.

A hush descended on the room and the tension in the air was palpable as two tall presidential glassfuls, Victór Pauli and Frederick Cronin, showed that Simerican-Selvadoradan relations have never been stronger. During their presentation of this year’s Lifetime Achievement Award, Pauli addressed the elephant in the room, quipping that he hoped his co-presenter Fred Cronin would continue to be diplomatic when his former almost-mother-in-law, Judith Ward, came onstage.

Del Sol royalty, Judith Ward, came onstage with style. Responding to Pauli and Cronin, she joked that even if her daughter couldn’t make a home in the White House, perhaps she might have better luck.

Ward’s acceptance speech was a tour de force of acting, where she presented scenes from her childhood in a Del Sol Valley trailer park, bringing many to tears. She thanked her late mother, whose frequent absence taught her many important lessons about acting, that the whole world was a stage, and that someone, somewhere was always watching you. She finished by thanking herself for her unwavering support and faith.

And to round off the evening, former DSPD detective Don Shaft also made an appearance (out of uniform)! Shaft has been gate-crashing Del Sol Valley’s most glamorous events for over a year now - since he was fired from the force for being a loose canon and not following anyone’s rules. 

As the crowds dispersed from the auditorium destined for a dozen different afterparties, and former Detective Shaft was led away to the station, we are forced to admit that, far from having no relevance anymore, this year’s Oskars have reminded us that celebrating wealthy and entitled artists has the power to enrich us all.

Fred: “United” my ass.

Nathalie: Fred? Can you focus please?

Fred: We have been over this a gazillion times. We land. I walk the red carpet. I smile and wave. I answer their questions. I meet with Pauli. Then we go on stage and present my ex-girlfriend’s mother — who’s idea was that? — with a lifetime achievement award. What could possibly go wrong?

Nathalie: So darn much. Remember, you are attending as a representative of the White House. The President needs this to go smoothly.

Fred: Yes, yes, I know. I got the full “For the campaign” speech before we left. What the commander-in-chief wants, the commander-in-chief shall receive.

Nathalie: Watcher, help me.

I can’t wait to see you. I haven’t stopped thinking about that night 😍
