The Cube Project is an ongoing, crowd-funded art piece organized by Fine Arts student Rosaura Ojeda from Vancouver, Canada. The main goal of this project is to raise awareness of the many cases of bullying and discrimination still found throughout the world. The work will consist of a collaboration between anonymous submissions of victims of bullying and the artists. Participants are required to fill out a form (found in the Participate tab) describing their experience though generic and specific questions. The information provided through each of these questionnaires will then be used to create a unique 3”x 3” painted cube that displays an abstract and figurative artist’s interpretation of the victims’ experience. The changing collection of cubes will be on display at the artist’s gallery of choice, where they will also be available for purchase. 100% of the proceeds (excluding the price of the wood, which is about a dollar per cube) from the cubes will go to the Kids Help Phone Organization, a Canadian organization dedicated to improving the well-being of children and youth in Canada by providing them with anonymous and confidential professional counselling, referrals and information, through technology-based communications. Through this project, we hope to turn victims’ bullying experiences into an uplifting and freeing final outcome that will prevent bullying in the future.
