This morning, my grandparents called to wish me a happy birthday. I skipped the family breakfast to catch up with them. After a good hour of talking, I understood just how much I miss them. I mean, it’s been nearly 7 years since I last saw them and long distance calls never seem to be enough. My sister barely remembers them and feels kinda awkward an shy talking to them, but I really wish I could see my grandparents again.
After that very nostalgic and emotional part of my morning, I came downstairs and actually ate breakfast.
My sister and mom soon left for Polina’s dance recital and it was time for me to start studying for that history exam.
13:00 — a couple hours into my half hearted attempts to get my shit together I give up completely.
16:00 — fast forward 3 hours later to when I’m getting ready for the evening show.
I’m nervous and excited at the same time. This is my last show of the season and I’ve put in so much into each of my dances; I want them to be fantastic. And also, you’re coming to watch so that’s where my nerves are coming from. Aaaaahh
18:00 — my sister and I sign in backstage in the theatre and I begin to calm down a bit. C’mon Anastasiya, you know what you’re doing. You’ve done this so many times before. You got all your costumes here an you’ve made plans with Maria for the quick change. Everything should go smoothly. And, of course, he will enjoy the show. There shouldn’t even be any questions about that.
And still I’m nervous.
18:30 — I change into my tap costume and I realize I forgot my belt. Crap. Thank goodness for hair pieces, which are basically just extra pieces of fabric no one can see on stage, but they’re very handy in holding up loose jeans. *thumbs up*
19:00 — to distract myself Sophia and I practice our tap dance. Just another half hour before we’re on…
The rest of the night is crazy fast, but I loved every single moment of it.
- ran down the stairs in my tap shoes without falling and breaking my neck
- changed costumes in under a minute thanks to Maria
- took group pictures with Cristina. I can’t wait to see her again in September
- managed to pack and not forget anything in the theater
As soon as Polina finished her last dance, we grabbed our stuff and rushed upstairs to the balcony to see the Finale. I can’t even properly describe in words how amazing everyone was <33 The banana man though… where did that come from ?? :oo
22:00 — it’s the end of the show and I’m coming down the stairs into the lobby, my eyes searching the crowd for you.
And when our eyes finally meet it’s impossible for me to hide my joy.
Thank you so much for coming : D
That really made my day
In short: It’s been a long day, but it’s been absolutely wonderful. And i couldn’t be happier as I fell asleep with a smile on my lips.
