It was early evening, still some elements of daylight in the sky, enough for Card to feel safe as he quickly made his way to Daniel’s. It had been a few weeks since he had been released from the medical ward and he had yet to check in on his friend after their own trauma’s at the slaughter ring. Yet another person Cardelle could have been there for but hadn’t been able to.
He arrived at Daniel’s, pressing himself up against the door as he knocked, as if the hood over his head wouldn’t hide his identity enough. When Daniel answered, Card gave him a genuine but tired smile. “Hey Dan,” he said, shuffling his feet into the ground for a moment, “big ask but...can I crash here for a couple nights?”
