"Take a Path to Fisher Hut (Walberswick)" (hand-made book, collagraph print, ink drawing and watercolour) by new @easterlyartists member @thedawdlingday Mandy Walden. Narrative has become of greater importance in Mandy's work, illustrated by the ever-increasing passages of text which accompany each image, whether as a painting, print or hand-made book. Hand-made books are a recent development – and, in her own words, may become something of an obsession! She uses a variety of processes in her work, which is always highly detailed. This may include a collagraph block cut with a scalpel, printed intaglio and then the print hand-tinted with watercolour, or a plate printed without ink to give an embossed base for further work. In recent years she has explored pen and ink drawings coloured with rich washes of colour, to give a depth not usually associated with watercolour.
