« It's just got a perfect chord progression that moves in really nice steps and the change of key in it is brilliant and really subtle, Neil Finn is great songwriter and he's got such a skill for melody. This song could be on 'Rubber Soul', it's got the Beatles melancholy about it. The production is classic early 80s new wave which makes the song even better. Split Enz also made incredible videos and the one to 'One Step Ahead' is no exception. We play the song at rehearsal as it's perfect for warming up the vocals and getting our guitar sound right. We all love this tune. »
